On Christmas Day, 2024, we embarked on a thrilling road trip from the foggy streets of Balurghat to the serene heights of Kolakham, covering 432 kilometers in just 9 hours. The journey began in the early hours at 4:40 AM, as we left the coziness of a wintry night in Balurghat, filled with excitement and festive cheer.
Our first stop was at Ghar Dhaba shortly after Dhalkhola along NH27. We took a leisurely 35-minute break to refuel, sip some comforting tea, and take care of bio needs. Energized and ready, we continued until our stomachs growled for breakfast. We found respite at the Hotel Canal View on Gajoldoba Road for a delightful 50-minute breakfast break.
The road ahead promised adventure, especially with 48 kilometers of hill driving, culminating in the final 9 kilometers of thrilling off-roading. As we navigated the rugged terrain of Neora Valley National Park, the majestic views and the promise of Kolakham kept our spirits high. By 2:13 PM, we rolled into the picturesque Kolakham Himalayan Retreat, hearts full and cameras brimming with incredible memories of our unforgettable Christmas journey.
