Anthony, I miss you so much. Your taste and knowledge could not compare to anyone. Your eloquence, your compassion , and understanding of the struggle of all who work in the kitchen is unknown to any who have not been in the kitchen. God bless you and your family.

This episode is why I love Anthony Bourdain. He's the perfect guest to meet and converse with the men and women at distillery such as Balvenie. I can't think of anyone else who could do it better. My thoughts go out to you and your loved ones. I'll raise a glass of Balvenie in honour to you. Thanks for the memories. Slainte Mahath.

Excellent production, thanks for sharing these. I'll likely add a Balvenie to my (mostly Islay) shelf next week. I think you could have paid more homage and respect to David Stewart's immense skill. He is an absolute legend and one of the world's greatest masters, in my opinion. The degree of experience, nuance, and focus it takes to develop such an acute nose and palette is underestimated. It's a lifetime of dedication, like most crafts.

These guys are neither crazy nor insane, they just love what they do, and it shows. I worked for 30 years in pharmaceuticals, am now "semi-retired" and develop a boutique vineyard; the difference could not be more profound. And it's not for the money, but for the sake of making great wine from probably Australia's most northerly vineyard. I can soooo relate to the Balvenie chaps !

Interesting that the show introduced the different elements of whisky production 'backwards': they started with the casks, then the stills, the wash and finally the malting process, which is actually the very first thing that happens. Would love to visit Balvenie some day!

Great video. Great series. I've been to Balvenie, a long time ago, and walked that malt floor and tasted the whisky from the reserve cask as Bourdain does. Wonderful place. I hear they do public tours now. If so, and you are in the area. Go! Oh, and the whisky is wonderful, too.
@MyDanMo9 жыл бұрын
+Wine Guy I was there just this past August. Also walked the malt floor, saw them turning the malt, taking gravity readings of the wash, the stills, and tasted a range of their product. They let you fill 200ml bottles straight from the casks in the warehouse (I got three)
