I really appreciate how you treated this wonderful creature of the sea with the outmost respect. Sharks are an essential part of the sea ecosystem, but this also means you are allowed to harvest some - and when done responsibly it will only make a dent in the overall population - and possibly help the shark population stable.. Absolutely incredible video!! To me this really exemplifies the difference between saltwater and freshwater fishing. When that shark shot by the boat.. That was so cool! When you pulled it on the boat I said "holy crap" and then you said the same, haha! What a fight, good job man. I appreciate you explaining the regulations and not shying away from keeping and cooking fish like this, our culture has got to learn to grow a spine and understand where our food comes from!

Thank you for the point about understanding where our food comes from. I've been an avid fisherman all my life but have always been a "catch and release" guy. And for trophy species in public freshwater, that's probably fine. But I have a very good friend with a farm pond that has been taken over with huge bluegill and medium (9" - 12") sized bass. We all know it needs culled but nobody has pulled the trigger on that since her husband passed away. But thanks to your comment, that will happen this summer.

What an incredible catch and landing. I never would've guessed a rod that small could land a shark that large. I love how you emphasized the blessing it was to land such a beautiful creature and that you didn't want to waste any of the meat. It bothers me when our fellow fisherman don't have respect for their catch. Also I like how you explained that it was legal to keep and that they have a thriving population. I live on the Eastern Shore of Maryland where Striped Bass numbers and sizes have plummeted due to a variety of reasons including overfishing yet tons of people still keep them. The average size you catch today is like half of what it was even 20 years ago. It's as if people don't realize that eventually there won't be any more to catch if you keep wiping out prime breeding age Stripers. They keep ones that are just barely legal size and I just think "were those two tiny fillets that aren't even big enough for a meal worth ending that fishes life before it could make thousands of babies and grow into a trophy sized Striper? Their kids might not even get to experience catching one because they're being wiped out.
