OMG, what a joy to see my parents hometown. Never knew it was that big. I love Babous. The most amazing sight is where you are at the beginning of your video, the main road with the trees. Yes, the farmers market is sad. It could have been a good economic help for the local. Only if people knew or trained and see how farmer's market bring so much money elsewhere in the world (in my case, in Brooklyn, NY) U.S.A. . If the District Council of Black River would invest a bit more, the inhabitant of this village could get a better life (as the one in the north). In any case, thanks for sharing, I'm going now to download all my videos of Mauritius as well-:))) Glad to see non-Mauritian coming to Bambous and walking the streets.

Thanks for showing us the beautiful small town of Bambous. That side of Mauritius is supposed to be drier since it is on the lee-side from the prevailing winds. The bread you ate is actually farata, it is thicker and crispier than roti and more time consuming to make. This used to be the bread locals ate in the villages long time back. It is lucky you seem to get it in the small towns. The town seems empty and the shops semi-closed. Fun fact about villages and small town during the weekdays between 9 am to 3 pm: they are dead with hardly any movements as most people are working or studying in the nearby bigger towns.

Thanks for the info. I though it was a big roti, but now it makes more sense.

I saw solar panels farm in Belair, wind turbines on the north east, near Riviere du Rempart, Roches Noires, Bellevue Maurel - was quite spectacular and impressive - didn't know that they has solar farm at Bambous! Way to go Mauritius!

Bambous was a surprise on the solar, but those wind turbines are huge.

@@BryanDiscoversWorld Yes they are huge and they do power quite a few houses and hotels in the area!

We Mauritian, mostly all of us only know the street where we live, our schools or colleges, working place and may be some beaches.. 😂😂. Never knew Bambou is such an amazing place to visit.

La Ferme réservoir is located at one of the driest places in Mauritius. It used to be a nice fishing spot

I did see a group of people further down fishing, but it looked like most were fishing at the smaller Medine dams.

Hi Bryan & Riki, Thank you for another great informative video. Reflecting on the sugar cane industry, it would be great to learn about the history of rum production in Mauritius ? Perhaps a tour of a rum distillery ? Cheers Peter J from Melbourne

Thanks for showing the small town Bambous, its always exciting to see this town even though I have never been there. The town may be compact but it looks fine and developing along the lines of the other sister towns inm Mauritius. Its superb with the traditional shops and boutiques and the local friendly population. Excellent reporting, regards.

Beautiful video as always. that road where you started the montage, you should go there in december. The trees a called flamboyants, and they bloom in december. this road looks heavenly during that time.
