Lovely video to watch and echo that it's nice to see climbing routes of that grade that one can realistically aspire to!

What an utterly delightful and gentle video to watch. You both deal with all the issues thrown at you in a calm and logical manner. An object lesson in dealing with new territory. Well done

I like the way you guys have cameras top, bottom and at headcam level. It gives a good perspective on the climb. One idea - for those of us who are in the South and don't get away much but try to keep our leading mentality alive in absentia, could you sometimes give us a look at your belay set-up at the top of the crag? It would give added interest

Thanks David, glad you are enjoying our trad climbing videos. We are never sure how much of the gear and setups to include or whether people are more interested in the climb itself, so thanks for the feedback and letting us know it would be of interest to include :) we'll aim to get some more shots of set ups in our next trad video If you're interested in how we usually setup, we made a short video showing a couple of our regular methods: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eZCocpaGfbWqfKc All the best Brett and Sophie

I've seconded the second and third routes. If I remember Billberry crack is a bit of a pump fest. I remember not fancying the idea of a lead on that even though it's well protected. Really enjoyed the video and seeing someone climb their hardest grade and it not be E9000 39f. Thanks for a great video.

@@TheClimbingNomads They are very Good ! may ask 2 questions. 1) Would/could you climb with only nuts and hex's in the UK (tight budget) ? 2) Could you recommend a good UK climbing guide, for a tight budget ? Thank for the videos, I love the climbing... very inspiring.
@TheClimbingNomads3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! Both Sophie and I started our climbing careers with just nuts and hex’s. obviously some climbs are going to be easier to protect with cams and as you progression harder climbs you will likely find that they become more essential but for starting out and easier climbs hex’s are a great cheaper alternative 👍

Sorry only just seen the second part of your comment. ( KZbin didn’t load it first time) Are you looking for a guide/instructor to teach you how to climb safely or a guide book? We are both fully qualified mountaineering and climbing instructors and would be happy to run a course for you and show you how to climb safely.

Refreshing to hear talk of placing more gear, and even doubling up at the crux. Running it out seems to be in vogue but that's not how I climb trad.
@TheClimbingNomads4 жыл бұрын
Yep much flashier to being running everything out but sooner or later that luck runs out. If in doubt put another bit of gear in 👍
@SendEdition4 жыл бұрын
Amazing view! I’ve never done trad climbing before but I’m digging the idea of placing gear when you’re afraid you might fall. Sounds like quite the benefit. How do you get into it/find people who trad climb?
@TheClimbingNomads4 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's very beautiful scenery there! You can usually find a partner or join a club - UKClimbing is a good place to start asking around, or try Rock Climbing Facebook group. The best way to get into trad though is to get a few lessons with a qualified Mountain Instructor (who can teach you lead climbing and working your way towards trad climbing). There are a lot of skills to learn in order to lead climb safely and effectively, and quite often learning through a friend/ unknown partner can lead to some rather esoteric methods! Happy to run a course for you if you're interested 😉 (we're both Mountain Instructors). Drop us a direct message or email and we can arrange something for you 🙂

TC pros are so much better for this type of climbing. Katana for 5.11 and harder face climbing.
