Can't help but notice between the two cars that the 4.3L really has a much more raw exhaust note versus the 4.7L.

Hi guys. Excellent review. Just discovered your channel while looking for Aston Martin info. In the market for one and this has been a big help. Keep up the great work.

You can put a supersprint exhaust on this which gives you (dyno proven) 31hp and than a remap which will add about 25-30hp and voila 440hp and 450-460nm, not superfast but definitely fast enough and you are riding a beautifull timeless car which can actualy take some groceries.
@grahamdaws4775 Жыл бұрын
rubbish. Even Mike will tell you the max he could do with his manifolds, sports cats and remap is about an honest 415hp on a 4.3, maybe a tad more with the active inlet - as he explains, it gets a 4.3 to within a hair of a standard 4.7 in terms of top end. A different rear silencer adds almost nothing, maybe another 2-3hp at the very top end.

I've wondered if the throttle mapping is a factor in the different feel/driving experience between the 4.3 and 4.7. Reported differences in the 0-60 mph times is only a tenth of a second or so, which is the true description of performance. Yet some 4.7 owners say the 4.7 "feels much quicker." If the 4.3 gives 50% throttle at 50% pedal position but the 4.7 gives 65% throttle at 50% throttle position, the 4.7 will "feel faster." Or is this not the case? Has anyone measured actual throttle opening, related to throttle pedal movement on both cars?
@911obsessed8 ай бұрын
4.3L 0-60: 5.1sec 1/4 Mile: 13.5sec @106mph 4.7L 0-60: 4.3sec 1/4 Mile: 12.7sec @ 112mph Night and Day difference, also a much much better measure of actual acceleration is always the quarter mile. 0.8 seconds in the 1/4 is massive, hence why the 4.7 feels way faster (because it is)
@carterhunt98618 ай бұрын
@@911obsessed The numbers I have read were 4.3 0-60 is 4.8 seconds and the 4.7 car is 4.6 seconds. Depends on the driver, the surface, the tires, etc. But again, is the throttle mapping the same on both cars or does the 4.7 throttle open more with less pedal travel? My 2019 Vantage has three modes. Sport, Sport+, and Track. The throttle is much quicker in Sport+ vs Sport (more throttle opening with less pedal travel) so the car definitely feels quicker. Also, 4.3 owners have reported that their cars feel faster/wakes-it-up with a tune, that quickens the throttle.
@911obsessed8 ай бұрын
@@carterhunt9861 The numbers I posted are from Car and Driver, of course there are many variables. 3 different major publications managed almost identical numbers when the 4.3 came out, so I'd say they are fairly accurate. Yes if you apply a tune the car will feel quicker, not because of throttle mapping but because the car is making more power due to a tune... Same applies if you tune a 4.7

Superb review as always. I think I'd be happy with the Vantage just as art, but I prefer the look of the 4.3 and I think that a higher-priced but 'minter' 4.3 would be my choice over an entry 4.7. Clutch aside, I do like the idea of keeping the car standard but suspect I would end up tempted by an increase in power.

Great video mike. Personal view I've espoused for a while reflected here - If you want to work the car and the rev range more of the time in day to driving, 4.3. If you want to waft in the mid range, 4.7. Both cars are whatever speed you're driving at to illegal in a very short time. Personally I'd prefer, and have had for 5 years, 4.3. Wish I had the bilsteins though. I'm not sure what the cost is though - Mike?

I drove a manual 4.3 and a sport shift 4.7. The clutch in the 4.3 manual was very heavy at 24K miles. Are they all like that? Also, I’m 6 feet tall and all torso, so my eye level is above the top of the windshield even with the seat all the way to the lowest position but I didn’t notice this in the 4.7 cabrio that I drove. Does the 4.7 also have seats that lower more cause I didn’t notice this problem until I drove the older 4.3. These cars are pure class and beauty, but I did find the 4.3 felt more lethargic than my manual 997 and less nimble. The 997 is more of a sports car and very easy to drive fast. You do feel special driving the Aston for sure though!

@jamesmcdonald18894 жыл бұрын
As long as you keep on top of the servicing I think you’ll be okay, my dad has a post 2008 facelift db9 and it’s served him unbelievably well. I would recommend storing the car in a garage as they seem to get very crusty around the edges when left outside, we looked at many cars before buying his current one. If you’re in the market for one he’s thinking of selling soon and I’m happy to send you though the details if you like.
