Yes. To answer the last question, Hal is basically the best banakula player in the universe. ... I had the great pleasure of listening to this fine man perform a song for my wife, Kelly, and I. We are bananas about this guy.

What Hal Walker can do with these instruments is truly amazing--the complexity of rhythm and percussion from the shakers and knocking them against each other--Wow!

Hal, I used to listen to you at Brady's a long time back and its still a pleasure to hear you play. I'm payched to see you've continued making music and I look forward to seeing you post again. My recommendation would be "Hey Pam," that tune's brilliant!

@philnoll - Hi Sorry for the slow response. The sound may be slightly altered by opening and closing my grip on them, but it's very subtle. Yes, I use a unique technique of bringing my hands together so that all 4 balls may interact. One of these days, I'll get around to making an instructional video. thanks for asking, Hal

I have a question about the banakulas: Were these used during the 60s, specially during the hippie era, for example Woodstock, 1969? And were the banakulas used during hippie drum circles?
@banakula3 ай бұрын
I doubt it. I never heard of the instrument till the 2000’s. I don’t know how long they have existed in Africa.
@BloatedPizzaRolls3 ай бұрын
@@banakula what do you mean you never heard of them? You play them every time! And that rhythm always reminds me of a hippie drum circle! So that must mean they are certainly related!
