People were less restrictive in the 80's. There seemed to be more of an 'anything goes' attitude.

The 90s was even less restrictive than the 80s. I don't know what happened after the 90s. But Europe is still pretty relaxed even now.

It got more restrictive towards the end of the 80s but the early 80s were pretty free. Then everything got commercialized and electronic-ized
