Instead, my coworkers and I got him into a little tupperware dish and poked holes for him, gave him water, a few mealworms… and then tried to figure out what to do with him. It was snowing outside, and we weren’t just going to toss him out there! He’d scared me but we weren’t going to kill him! We did accidentally get him adopted. lol I was thinking the same thing. '91 baby here. i'm like " no fair" but there are different varieties of bananas that exist and are grown....of course they're likely only found (in the USA anyway) in specialty stores, farmers' markets and in people's back yards.....they're usually smaller & probably more common in other countries (Latin America, Caribbean, etc) where people grow edible plants on their properties more than here. Just do a quick search on eBay or google and they sell several varieties of banana plants, some of which are reputably tastier than the commercial variety we all enjoy. I've had some before. Unfortunately they're rare to come by unless you know someone with a tree. Same goes with mangoes and papayas actually.... (probably other fruits as well).... the mangoes and papayas in most markets SUCK....even when it's their season. I don't see why people bother buy them, especially when they're so expensive. My parents came from Haiti and we have several Papaya trees ...so you can actually wait till the fruit is ripe (bright orange all over) to enjoy it... (the ones in the market are picked well prior and the flavor/texture suffers for it) .... the varieties they grow commercially are likely different too, to be more bug resistant, require less water or space, grow faster, etc etc. We live in Florida and have neighbors who have a massive mango tree that grows huge incredibly sweet mangoes. Not that fibrous sour crap they sell for over a dollar in markets. No food tastier or sweeter in my opinion than a tree ripened mango or papaya that grew in someone's back yard. Sad part is that most fruit trees are extremely low maintenance to grow too, yet so few people do, even here in the south.

It's also because that banana "flavour" is in reality a combination of several flavours and chemicals that add nuance to the taste. It's like comparing stereo music to a mono track - sure, you can have the same song played in mono instead of stereo, but it's not the same. You're effectively getting a one-dimensional (or "mono", not "stereo") taste profile when you eat sweets that are banana flavoured. All that, after the booking, the bail, the small chat with a useless tax paid public defender, & talk with the all-powerful judge. Why not just give Walmart the dollar already, it's much cheaper by far! BTW: LOL! Saw an ripped open, empty package of one in the toy clearance section not even two months ago. I was thinking, what? why? I think it would cause undue stress to be pinching a stress reliever tool. I'd get stressed out all over again every time I'd try to use it. I'd probably start hyperventilating, for cryin' out loud. Thieves don't enter the Kingdom of YHVH. That said, I'm pretty sure that what you say is true. Current #1 item. полая корона You know it's funny how you felt the need to rudely attack my belief without any proof that what you believe is any more true than what I do. I didn't intend to attack you or any belief you may have, or don't have, by stating that one day there will a judgment for those shoplifters that the other commenter had referred to. I simply typed YHVH twice in a post, & you retaliated. How very peaceful & kind of you. Would it have been more acceptable to you if I had said their punishment would arise from the bad Karma they had created? Or, alternately, after death, they'd be reincarnated into some lesser life form or that they are doomed to receive another of the many other retributions out there in the world's religions? Saying G-d is not real is not necessarily the condemnation of all religions, since many of the world's religions don't have a g-d or g-ds per se, but powers, rules, empirical laws, etc. You didn't state what you believe, but I'll just temporarily assume you to be an atheist. Especially since I see your screen name appears to be Russian, I'll run with that theory. In the media, we, Americans, are told that the nation with greatest number of new Christian converts is Russia. But we were also told that up until quite recently, religion was forbidden under communism. So if you are Russian, you're living in a swiftly changing society. Correct me, if I'm wrong, as the media isn't always reliable here, & you've already shown that you are very quick to correct. Since your statement says 'G-d is not real. YHVH is a lie', it reveals you couldn't possibly be an agnostic nor a Catholic nor a Christian nor Jewish nor even Muslim. If you believe that there is a higher power that is not a g-d, ok, & if you don't, that's your belief as well. I was not trying to evangelize you or anyone else during the fidget comment. I never knew you existed until you replied to my comment. I was simply stating that shoplifters will get their comeuppance. Even people who don't believe in g-d still believe in a higher power which balances the good & bad, the right & wrong, the ying & yang of the universe. But, you've went out of your way to directly comment to me, to convince me against YHVH, you have essentially asked for a theological conversation with me. If you do not believe in a higher power, then the thieving described in the main comment would not be so inherently wrong in the grand scheme of things. No higher power means that survival of the fittest, quickest, smartest, & craftiest ultimately rules. Accordingly, if store security doesn't catch the thief, the police don't become involved, & Walmart doesn't go bankrupt, there is no one to really care, no true victim, it really doesn't matter, no known perpetrator, & the thief gets off scott free; he wins? If true, that's just another missing fidget, & life just goes on until death with no comeuppance ever. But your comment had absolutely nothing to do with the video, bananas, fidgets, or shoplifting, though. It was solely & specifically about attacking YHVH & me, for my belief, & saying that I have to live with it. Good, because... Honey, I will live. I will live an eternal life with YHVH in His Kingdom! I will have a smile on my face here & now & forever after! You can make the fish face & spread hate in snippy concise commentary. It's your prerogative, that's your choice! And if YHVH would prove to be a lie, I will have lived a long, happy life before my end. Good for me! I will have lived a good life with a beautiful kingdom in sight, even if it had been a mirage. That's nothing to sneeze at. But if YHVH is not a lie, in the future, I'll have lived a long, happy life only to then be granted an eternal perfected life forever & ever. Wow! Even better! Apparently, both scenarios are a win, win for me! Contrast that to your future, that is, if you're wrong about YHVH. Scripture says your knee is destined to bend, one way or the other. It will bend either in worship of Him, having repented & received the grace of Yeshua's blood, while you are still alive & as such you would receive the same life eternal as me, or it will bend in a single final, involuntary submission to YHVH's authority prior to your body being thrown into the lake of fire & brimstone, which is the second death. Death! Now you've been warned. Now, live with that! Keep in mind, I have nothing against you, & I bear you no ill will at all, please understand that. I blessed you, and you have born what will be shown to be false witness against my Father, you have said the great I AM never was. Your present life is death. So I have now shown you what you need to live with or die without! You might think that I am cursing you to death, but I make no such judgment. Your words have spoken. Only you will continue to bring that judgment upon yourself. Rather than cursing you, I've potentially blessed you by warning you. Unbelievers, though, usually don't just choose to ignore the messengers, they choose to ridicule, persecute, or kill them. All about hate. This is a public forum. In the country I am typing this, I still, as of this time, retain the G-dgiven right to free speech, & the freedom of religion & the right to free expression thereof of my religious belief, with no laws impugning such. On my money, both made of metal & of paper, it still reads 'In G-d, we trust.' In spite of what YOU say, I will continue to trust in YHVH, even if you are still upset about it, & even if it is offensive to you. YHVH & His son, Yeshua, is wherein my peace lies in this chaotic world both you & I live in. Your worldly, disrespecting words won't take that away from me. Scripture says that believers will be persecuted for His name's sake & those believers should feel blessed because of that persecution. I feel blessed today because of what you said. Also, scripture says that the believer should bless his or her friends, but that he or she also should go on to bless his or her enemies. I don't consider you an enemy, just someone who may be lacking love & peace in the heart. I bless you & take that short retort of yours as further fulfillment of scripture. And in the least likely of places- the comment section of a banana video on KZbin. So I say to fulfill my part & to fill my heart. I blessing, along with everyone else in world, in His name... May YHVH bless all!

I discovered plantains in Central America and fell in love - where were these when I was growing up? Fried or boiled plantains with cheese is my favorite. I eat them for breakfast every day and prefer them over bananas!

Banana can be replanted using the shoot of the banana. Make sure you only have three plants in one grouping to have the best tasting banana. Transplant the shoot as soon as you can. I have done this so many times in the Philippines. We have many different variety growing in the Philippines. And they all taste good.
@cynthiapiercy15425 жыл бұрын
When you say."the shoot" are you speaking of the pups or new plants coming up out of the ground beside an existing one?
@mer2winable5 жыл бұрын
Cynthia Piercy. Yes, that is correct. Normally, I let it grow about 3 feet before transplanting.

With all our new knowledge, why don't we bring back the Gros Michel?
@jonbyron386 жыл бұрын
Javaman92 I agree but the ones now are typically bigger so more profit for the growers?
@QuitworkBehappy5 жыл бұрын
agreed CRISPR should make it easier to do...the flavour and sweetness genes and maybe a few developmental or flowering genes, but it should be doable. Maybe even go the other way and add the fungus resistance genes back to the Gros Michel.
@joshhayl74595 жыл бұрын
To: jon byron, 🔵 You are incorrect, the Gros Michel banana was longer, wider and sweeter than the modern Cavendish.

I ran a produce department for years and we always joked about the fact that bananas are basically GMO, and there is a huge amount of people who believe that our banana has a seed at the bottom of the peel lol

On the contrary, science has indeed HELPED modern agriculture, not "screw it over". Without science in agriculture, you wouldn't be alive today, as with many people.

Back when i was a kid, we have lot of green bananas with SEEDS in our backyard. Sadly, it is gone now. It's sweeter than cavendish.

Hey Sci show. I'm from Trinidad and Tobago and luckily for us we still have Gros Michelle bananas. They grow from what are called suckers. When the fully grown tree fruits and starts to die off it puts out an offshoot sapling which grows from the same root system . Eventually you can end up with a large collection of banana trees. The collective result grows almost like a banyan tree.

well, this video is quite strange to me, because i'm brazilian, and i'm used to go to the market and choose my favorite type of banana; and that makes me think about that one species of banana that everybody eat. also i dont think that the brazilian bananas are infertile, because i am also used to grow banana trees in my backyard
@memeking9127 жыл бұрын
Guilherme klein The cavendish banana is grown only by corperate companies like dale not local farmers because cavendish bananas are sterile.
@Nekoszowa7 жыл бұрын
Well, the rest of us eats basically the worst bananas out there... Because these are the only one they can export(import?) to our countries xd
@guilherme14217 жыл бұрын
naren sri If there is one thing I can tell you is that I'm not a local farmer. I live in the big city, but back in the day, I had a rather big house with a decent backyard, we used to buy bananas in the market and then put the seeds in there ps: I live in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, if you wanna check how big it is, it is not that big actually, but there are no farms here

The video makes it seem like there will be no bananas to eat if the cavendish goes extinct. So I'm glad that you educated us that there will always be bananas, and that we Americans just need to stop being so close minded!

I have a coworker that is genuinely scared of bananas. He thinks that they are the "forbidden fruit" and then they will somehow not only kill us, but damn our souls to hell, as well. Hopefully his mom didn't feed him mashed bananas when he was a baby! Lol

Banana burps are the worst in my opinion. You can brush your teeth and use mouth wash to get rid of banana breath, but you will be burping banana for the rest of the day. ITS AWFUL!!!!!!!

I live in Panama and have a continual crop of bananas without lifting a finger other than cutting down clusters . These are smaller than either subspecies I see in your video . This stand of self perpetuating trees has been on this land for maybe 20 yrs now , so not sure why there is a problem other than the mass market side of things.
