Great video. Only issue is when you were talking about maledict and bkb piercing abilities. You should have mentioned the "Dispel" feature. Maledict says "Pierces spell immunity - NO Dispellable - NO" This means that Maledict does not get dispelled by bkb, but can not be casted on a bkb. It makes perfect sense once you learn the dota language.

Bsj already has an old vid on this, can't remember which. Basically boils down to this in this general order: 1) buy items that help you lane. If lane is obviously a loss, itemize to jungle and ignore lane items. 2) what/who kills you? What conditions cause your death? Can you itemize to prevent that? Can your team hold off long enough for you to delay this item(s) for: 3) item(s) that helps you farm faster, but consider if #2 actually helps you farm more aggresively b/c of the safety of such item, i.e. bkb -> tp away as noted in this video. 4) itemize to kill/team fight. Is there anyone important to take out? Does anyone prevent you from taking objectives? This one is pretty broad. 5) itemize to take objectives, notably go high ground and end game. This may or may not be the same as #4. This generally applies to carry mostly. Anyways take with a grain of salt, too lazy to find the old vid, also just a 4.5k noob 🤷‍♀️

Hello Brian, loved the video, very good examples of preemtive/reactionary usage and the magic immunity piercing abilities. I think there was only one thing missing, and that was the Dispell aspect of this item, and I think its the very next important thing to consider when talking abotu BKB and how it works with spells. As BKB itself is has a Basic Dispell when used, and spells' mouseover details also show the Dispellable values, I believe it would also be great to add that to this video. I know it was long enough, but you talked about the 2 out of 3 important of BKB and its usage, so why not the third one as well. Thank You, best regards, love the content.

I feel like it would best connect to the Maledict explanation, as this spell's indispellability is the very best explanation of why certain spells, as long as you get hit with them, will remain on you even after you activate BKB. Or, staying with Witch Doctor, how his ultimate Death Ward will still atack you even through BKB, because even though its a spell, it deals Physical Damage instead of magical, so thats another thing to keep an eye on. So overall, I would encourage everybody to read the spell info of the heroes they play against, as these are really the most important details when considering BKB worth; damage type, magic immunity piercing values and dispellability. @@darukona7218 No, that is *not* the point. There are plenty of physical damage spells that get blocked by Bkb and some magic damage dealing spells that go through. Acid spray and unstable concoction (alch stun) are blocked even though they deal only physical damage e.g. Death ward goes through because it's a (ward type) unit that attacks you, so it counts as an attack, not a spell. It used to be that you would get 100% magic resistance as well as immunity to many spells but they changed that a while back.

Stick + Raindrop combo with consumables. works on all heroes in most lanes. After laning use clarities when jungling or running around. Most heroes that use a lot of mana have their mana prefered meta mana item anyways.

Hope he makes a video on it. I'll point out the thought process to you. Atos is for holding an enemy in the same place for a short while and bursting him. If your team has heavy burst damage you can go for this item. Late game people will have items to dispel it. Orchid is for enemies who are spell dependent on escaping or attacking. Like jug can spin tp or ult if u are close, weaver can shukuchi out etc. If u have orchid u can make them vulnerable for a while. Although if and when they make manta or bkb they will just dispel it. Finally vyse is a god tier late game item. Whatever item the enemy has if u are able to use it on enemy and follow up that dude will die. Normally in late game all team has heavy damage but lack of disables due to everyone having items like bkb,manta,satanic. Vyse is a solution in that case.

Vision is 70% of the game. Then come draft 20% and lastly individual skill 2%,the rest is teamwork (still, draft is important). At least, that s what i think of the game. And that s why i haaaate going to fight when there s no. Vision. People are different in that regard. Some just go in and do whatever, some have a knack for how they should use their abilities from the get-go, some don't ever understand what items to buy, some suck with mechanics, some have no map awareness and so on. For example, I actually do think about stuff like this but I suck hard at remembering stacks and stuff, my lasthit game is kinda weak and my map awareness totally sucks. Sometimes it balances out, sometimes you need to start from the bottom and work your way up. In most cases, having solid foundations goes a long way, a good example is you!

That gives some people the idea that: "hey this guy is shit, how does he not know?" though there's probably something they're doing badly that they could be doing a lot better. For example, I decided to play SD in ranked. I did shit, my jugg was pinging me and being toxic (truly unheard of) however, even though i was being bad, said jugg was really bad at arriving at the fight in time, and thus our damage was surprisingly similar. The witch doctor point at the end, just look through spells that say "cannot be dispelled" there really isn't many. Any of those, if you use them before someone bkbs, their bkb won't help them. That is, the ones that don't pierce spell immunity.

WD is a bug. Veno ulti is like maladict but it STOPS doing damage to you when you bkb same with huskar W.

@@parham1023 Huskars goes through bkb so thats false just demoed it. Bkb also doesn't dispell poison nova either, it just removes dmg for the short bkb duration, then continues damage afterwards. And WD is not a bug with his undispellable maledict. It does damage based on damage you took before bkb and ticks down through bkb based off of that before bkb damage, as its intended.

I think monkey king aghanim here is more a product of razor dmg drain and their need for damage on naga siren, blind from kotl in case bkb is over etc. While fighting he will spawn these soldiers and when bkb is over he can still kill people even if its not over after his ulti

The most successful teams draft around a lot of things but a major consideration is FORCING people to buy bkb, and having an answer to it. back in 2011, cores have permanent 10sec bkb (and only rp and bh and chrono were bkb piercing back then), and support heroes didn't have as nearly as much impact like right now, (more jungle farm, much less save items, no item hotkeys, supports not getting massive buffed from shard and talents, you could repurchase bkb, pudge could hook pull, etc.) You can't deny that it was way more fun to play dota, when you pick mid(or feed) or carry, you have absolute control of the game :)))

Great info for herald/guardian bracket. The rest of us know this is exaggerated BS. BKB is fine, but it also has its limitations. You get abilities or items that pierce, then it's not so great. Example, Abyssal blade. This guy believing he's going to be able to bkb/tp isn't as reliable as he believes, and he's going to be in for a rude awakening when another herald bashes him during his TP.

Just a curiosity: in your experience, at approximately what rank do people start to understand a bit of the game or their specific role in it? Not at the level of pro teams, but at the level of warding the map when they are supports, and not solo farming while the base crumbles. For me, solo playing Quick Games is a horrible experience, to the point that I prefer playing versus bots. But I understand that ranked is also based on wins and losses, not individual performance, and frankly this makes the game unplayable without a team. Are these issues common and, if they are, how do you deal with them? I don't have a lot of time on my hands and cannot endlessly grind through frustration in the hopes that somewhere out there will be more team co-operation.

Well the only way to avoid this is playing as a 5 stack, otherwhise you always have bad people. The chances just get smaller the higher you go in MMR. In Divine it starts to feel like people are getting on the same page, before that sometimes in anciant. Pick Heroes that can "solo" carry games. You can carry with pos 5 disruptor with the perfect ultimate, or as pos 4 Hoodwink sniping heroes. Brewmaster pos 3 clycolning an Ursa in fight. There are many ways to carry on all positions, some heroes are just more solo impactfull, some on team support. And just get good. Pick your favourit (meta) heroes, go look up pro replays and watch what you want to learn. Watch laning allways and then maybe the farming patterns min 10-20. Do this with 2 replays, you didn't spend your time losing mmr and getting frustrated, you learned about something and win more games in the future, after you apply and practice your knowledge. Watching Pro's: Avoiding MMR lose + more future MMR = get good
