George Michael changing the vocal key/range for his vocals changed this bridge between the intro into Phil Collins drumming to a really poignant vocal, so much more powerful than it was originally given to him. Not surprising - the man, even at his very young age, knew what would work best not just for his voice but for the song itself. So missed lovely man ❤

Also it’s amazing that how these stars have used their art to help the needy. Sometimes we criticize people for how they are wasting their talent in vain things but look how effectively they have put to use their art their talent of making music to help humanity. I’m a Muslim and Islam teaches me that if there is some needy person out there and I help them then it’s their share in my fortune that I am able to deliver to them it was not mine in the first place. I hope that may we all become aware of that share that portion in our wealth that belongs to those in need and we may be able to send it.

@@johnseals3559 You misunderstand that valid lyric. It is sarcastic, meant to give a guilt trip to selfish people who deserve guilt trips; who would normally think "Well thank god it's them instead of me." Those people might suddenly feel a bit guilty seeing some starving children images, and the lyric is meant to intensify the guilt those selfish people deserve. By the way, there is no all-powerful, all-loving God, because if there was, that God would not let those innocent helpless children suffer and die that way.

That was 1984 and I can remember how I watched this the first time on television. What happened in the 2000s onwards no initiative no compelling or gathering of artists trying to address issues of the unfortunate, it is really sad. Makes me wonder where our mindset have gone to. Then again the lyric ‘There won’t be snow in Africa this year’ seriously?!?!

I was 8 when this song came out and I loved it. A few years later once I paid attention to the lyrics, I loved it even more. Our family always helped those less fortunate than we were, especially around the holidays. God Bless and be safe

I raised money in primary school for Africa that year. I was 7 years old from Ireland. I never forgot this famine and drought. I remember crying at the babies.

This is the best version of this song. All the legends together here. Phil Collins does good job on the drums also.

How could 90 people be so inconsiderate to dis like this video? I know it's not in the best of qualities but this song is almost 30 years old. And this helped and is still helping hunger and poverty in Africa and they have re released band aid with new artists to help Ebola!
