George Michael changing the vocal key/range for his vocals changed this bridge between the intro into Phil Collins drumming to a really poignant vocal, so much more powerful than it was originally given to him. Not surprising - the man, even at his very young age, knew what would work best not just for his voice but for the song itself. So missed lovely man ❤

Also it’s amazing that how these stars have used their art to help the needy. Sometimes we criticize people for how they are wasting their talent in vain things but look how effectively they have put to use their art their talent of making music to help humanity. I’m a Muslim and Islam teaches me that if there is some needy person out there and I help them then it’s their share in my fortune that I am able to deliver to them it was not mine in the first place. I hope that may we all become aware of that share that portion in our wealth that belongs to those in need and we may be able to send it.

"Well tonight thank god it's them, instead of you" My favourite line in the whole song, if this line offends you, then you take what you have and the people you love for granted. This song is not supposed to be offensive, it is supposed to be an eye opener for all the people that are ungrateful think about what they should be thankful for and help those in need.

@@johnseals3559 You misunderstand that valid lyric. It is sarcastic, meant to give a guilt trip to selfish people who deserve guilt trips; who would normally think "Well thank god it's them instead of me." Those people might suddenly feel a bit guilty seeing some starving children images, and the lyric is meant to intensify the guilt those selfish people deserve. By the way, there is no all-powerful, all-loving God, because if there was, that God would not let those innocent helpless children suffer and die that way.

Greetings from Florida 👋 Gracias! Habla un poco espanol. Pero muy poco! I tried to read your comment without translation but no bueno para mi...so I did the translator to read it y...Si Si Siiiiiiiiii verdad Senor de Mexico you are 100% right. (I 💜 to practice mi espanol😉) 99.9% of us simply want to live our lives in peace and choose our own levels and ideas of success. Hands or 'phones' across the globe for peace! There's no excuse why we can't have peace and no excuses for lack of food or water, anywhere at anytime. OK I could type into next year but I shall stop now and wish good tidings and joy to everyone, across the globe within their own small, medium, large o muy grande niches, towns and cities during Christmas and any other current holiday celebrations plus throughout the year and years forever! 💜☮️

Respect to the entire team of Do They Know It's Christmas and We Are The World. It's heartwarming to see they united to help people in need. I doubt today's popular artists will make a supergroup with a new song for the same purpose.

I have a few friends that are either from Ethiopia or have roots in Ethiopia, I sometimes forget what that little country has to go through with little to no help. It’s not just them, but several other countries. Hell, a city near me, Portland Maine, is having some sort of homeless problem. This year, I’m gonna use this song as a message to the people around me to try and help the issue and message to our state government to take care of the housing crisis in Maine. Not just Maine, but everywhere with a similar problem or with many starving people.

That was 1984 and I can remember how I watched this the first time on television. What happened in the 2000s onwards no initiative no compelling or gathering of artists trying to address issues of the unfortunate, it is really sad. Makes me wonder where our mindset have gone to. Then again the lyric ‘There won’t be snow in Africa this year’ seriously?!?!

I was 8 when this song came out and I loved it. A few years later once I paid attention to the lyrics, I loved it even more. Our family always helped those less fortunate than we were, especially around the holidays. God Bless and be safe

How could 90 people be so inconsiderate to dis like this video? I know it's not in the best of qualities but this song is almost 30 years old. And this helped and is still helping hunger and poverty in Africa and they have re released band aid with new artists to help Ebola!
