We are a family of musicians, my brother is a drum teacher with recognition from the conservatory of Milan, I play different instruments and make compositions and arrangements, and I can say that Band-Maid are truly incredible, in particular, when my brother discovered that Akane had studied drums for only 4 years before making the first record, he was shocked. And she told me, but where does this girl go? And he can evaluate a drummer, believe me. Akane is at absolute levels, not only for the technique but for the composition of the drumlines.

Akane e Misa sono musiciste di livello altissimo non c'è dubbio, Sono sicuramente uno dei punti di forza di questa band, ma secondo me la vera meraviglia delle Band Maid si chiama Kanami Tono. Compositori come lei al mondo non ce ne sono tanti . Il suo talento si percepisce bene in canzoni come Time, Yolo e Decided by Myself. E anche in brani meno famosi come Unfair Game. ( Una tra le mie preferite).

This song is a masterpiece of transitions and dynamics! No one else writes like this, let alone play like this! That first solo by Kanami is incredible, but, it really happens because of what the rest of the band is doing to drive the acceleration. The second run by Kanami at the end is just pure genius, being played over those fabulous outro vocals by Saiki and Miku.

Quite right. And the main reason nobody else can pull this off is that they don’t know how to write for nuance. It’s the small flourishes and thoughtful details, not a bunch of in your face wankery.💪🏻🤘🏻

This is one of those Band Maid songs that you have to listen to several times. Simply, there is so much going on in this song, and at such a pace that it's hard to hear all of that at once. For example, freaking amazing, crazy Akane`s drumsticks, MISA`s bass, always dancing on the edge of the rythm and melody, wonderful Kanami riffs, not only her solos, and harmonies of the vocal duo Saiki and Miku. And little things - even that moment, when MISA`s bass dives for a second as low as possible - 4:08 or this, her fabulous passage - 6:53.

How about "The Dragon Cries" next. Miku and Saiki flew to New York to work with producer Tony Visconti (of David Bowie, T Rex fame) at his studio. A bit different for them, not as complex a song as their usual. The rest of the band came in later to start the tour and Visconti attended both New York performances. It's a bit of a landmark, not aware of any Japanese band working and recording in the US with an American producer. Everyone BE SAFE sheltering in California.

What they do isnt revolutionary. They probably steal like hell and put in a lot of "nananas", "yeahyeahyeahs" and "hellohellohellos", but they turn it up to 10, combine it with Kanamis good ear for melody and the pure talent of them all, and make a package which sounds both new and unique. Such a great band!
