@@hunglikeaheretic You: " which frequently incorporates a number of techniques that most guitarists would consider "shredding" by any definition." You are wrong here, flat out wrong. She does not dive bombing, no sweep picking, no string jumping, no arpeggios, no two-handed tapping in her solo here. The playing is measured, the pace, easy. You reveal yourself to e someone who not only does not play guitar but does not know much about the instrument especially in rock music. You: "...when to stay in the pocket ..." No one says this of guitarists and dummies parrot that of bassists. The solo is nice in the song, but it is not "shredding." Tōno plays live what she has written and practiced. She has never demonstrated any skill at improvisation. Many hours of watching live boots confirms this. She strives to play note-for-note what was laid down on the albums. Good luck though!

@@増田仁-i9f This is true. The members have always worked hard to advance their craft. Miku had no guitar experience when she started the band; now she is very good. Akane having the time of her life. Smiling, enjoying and killing it on drums.
Three ways one can compare Band-Maid with all other rock groups: 1) Song Production -- Are there few "B" songs in a large catalog of consistently good to great songs? Are they prolific writers producing about an album per year with current, worldwide touring schedules and events? 2) Musicianship -- Are they all-around accomplished musicians that write their individual parts to support the song? Does their playing as well as the entire band sound and performance create a synergy that moves you and creates a sense of joy? 3) Members -- Are their personalities and appearance on and off stage engaging, inspiring, and genuine? Do they and their media outlets consistently interact with and support their fans? Are their products unique, of high quality, and easily available? One reason Band-Maid fans and Maidiacs love the Maids is because they excel in each one of these criteria. (However, their merch and website could use improvement ;-) Of course, there's another vitally important factor that creates a fandom: the individual connection -- something no one can concoct, buy or predict. While there is a language and cultural difference for most of their audience, the Maids have little problem connecting with their fanbase!

After watching this like 10 times, I just had a thought - are we experiencing the inverse of Beatlemania? Instead of a bunch of girls melting down as John and Ringo run from venue to venue having a Hard Day's Night, the script is flipped? Now it's a bunch of dudes chasing the Maids, who are rewriting the rules of rock, and enjoying every minute of it? If so, I'm happy to be here.

One of my favorite things about this concert is that you'd never know just from watching the girls that there isn't a huge audience in front of them. They're up there leaving it all on-stage the same as they would playing for a tiny venue or a huge arena.
