Welcome to Band-Maid! The best hard rock band I have heard in my 58 years on this planet. While they don't class themselves as a metal band, they don't stick to any one genre and often mix genres in songs. They are extremely diverse and have an extensive back catalogue featuring Punk, Pop-Punk, Hard-Rock, Classic Rock, Metal, Prog, Blues, Jazz, Groove, Rap etc. From face melting 220 bpm punk-prog mayhem to ballads, instrumentals to acoustics they do it all. They can make you headbang, they can make you pogo, they can make you cry like a baby. They are also five of the nicest people in music, without a shred of ego. They are funny and fun and world class musicians to boot. They are currently into their 12th year with the original line up. And they are the best live band I have ever witnessed! Btw, Miku the rhythm guitarist (red rose) formed the band. She had the idea of Band-Maid after working as a maid in Japanese maid cafe's. Her idea is a concept called "The Gap" - that is what you see (cute maids) is NOT what you get (Hard Rock/Punk/Metal). They take the maid café concept literally. They call their concerts "servings" and their fans "Masters and Princesses". Oh, and Miku is an 810 year old small pigeon. Welcome to the pigeon hole Po!

I was a Rush fan, still grieving the end of the band …. until I tried Band Maid on the advice of other Rush fans. I’m totally obsessed, blown away and get bored listening to anyone else. You’ll get a multitude of suggestions because virtually everything they’ve done is amazing. The live vids are usually the best. I’d try Domination first (live) then some of their heavier stuff like Real Existence (live) and From Now On (official video). Great reaction by the way, loved your amazement.

My favorite moment in this one, among many (ask about what Kanami is doing crouched down listening to Miku sing her verse there), is when Kanami takes her guitar solo, and in the middle of shredding, just looks out at the crowd, mugging for a moment, the look saying, "Are we KILLING this, or what? First the maid costumes are take from the Maid Cafe's in Japan, not cleaning maids. Also the costumes are to create "the Gap" meaning the difference in what you are seeing, demure maids VS what you are hearing Hard Rock. They compose and write all their song and have written amine theme songs. They were the 2nd Japanese band to be INVITED to perform at Lollapalooza and they killed it. Also they have been touring the US since 2016!!

Great reaction and your old 300 baud brain will need an upgrade to 1TB fiber if you plan on listening to more Band-Maid.
