I don't know of any other drummer who has such a wide variety of drum patterns (and continues to evolve). Her playing on the song "Wonderland" is like Tony Williams. Sometimes she's like John Bonham or reminds me of Keith Moon. Akane Hirose is the best drummer in the world for me.

Their drummer has crazy power and stamina, but what I think makes her really special is her creativity. The same goes for the whole band. They’re all strong players, but what sets them apart is their writing. A little after 3:25 in this video, you can hear her do a fill that’s like 5 seconds long, and she’s basically playing the vocal melody on her toms. As the vocalists are singing “arienai”, she’s going up and down with them. It’s such a weird detail, and their songs are packed with stuff like this. They’re endlessly fun to listen to.

There have only been two other bands that have affected me this way. One is It's A Beautiful Day from the very early days and the other is Yes. Band Maid is the third, I love this band. Welcome to Band-Maid! The best hard rock band I have heard in my 58 years on this planet. They don't stick to any one genre and often mix genres in songs. They are extremely diverse and have an extensive back catalogue featuring Punk, Pop-Punk, Hard-Rock, Classic Rock, Metal, Prog, Blues, Jazz, Groove, Rap etc. From face melting 220 bpm punk-prog to ballads, instrumentals to acoustics they do it all. They can make you headbang, they can make you pogo, they can make you cry like a baby. They are also five of the nicest people in music, without a shred of ego. They are funny and fun and world class musicians to boot. They are currently into their 11th year with the original line up. Btw, Miku the rhythm guitarist (red rose) formed the band. She had the idea of Band-Maid after working as a maid in Japanese maid cafe's. Her idea is a concept called "The Gap" - that is what you see (cute maids) is NOT what you get (Hard Rock/Punk/Metal). My friend... you have no idea what's in front of you. Go and check them out live, on official or fan cam, and prepare for the impact. I've been listening to them for years, cruelly analyzing them and a few weeks ago I started telling everyone that they are the best band of the 21st century and they are in the top 10 in rock history and getting closer to the top 5. We are very lucky to have a band like that in our lives. Absolutely monstrous in everything, from A to Z, and every live performance is a huge, happy devastation to the ears and soul. Keep going. They are making history and if you try to eliminate one of them it is simply impossible. They come from the same nebula as Queen, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Rush, Rolling Stones but with something more, a consistency, solidity and superior musical and melodic sense imho... Thanks Po!
