Good comparison. The rules, work, structures and worry that govern your existentence all dissolve and vanish. But the friends you had that shared in the experience scatter in the wind as well.
What I always remember from this episode is the scene before this where the guys are on foot patrol and discover the place. It smash cuts to Percante sprinting back through the forest, double timing it back to the CP in full gear. It says so much by just implying, going right back to ep.1, that he's still physically fit enough to move like that despite everything. Thank you captain sobel.

2:57 A small detail but very important. O'Keefe is a new replacement, been with the company only a couple weeks. By this point, Winters hasn't served as Easy Company's direct CO for almost half a year, yet he knows every single one of his soldiers by name, even the new ones. That's how you can tell he cares about his men.

It must be remembered that Nixon was the Company Intel Officer. He's no good to the Company dead, and the Company is not as efficient without him. He might not have fired a shot in anger, but he fought a smart war, so he could contribute to the safety of the company. I suspect it's one of the reasons Winters took up working for him after the war.

Hitlers house was bombed prior to German surrender . The building on the mountain top with the gold plated elevator was a "tea house" , Hitler only used it a couple of times, as they are correct in saying he didn't like the hight. One theory was that it made him a sitting duck for an assassin and that's why. Either way the Berghof , his house was destroyed in totality by a demolition team and fast growing trees planted in front of the alpine view it enjoyed. All this to stop it becoming a place of pilgrimage by any future NAZI followers of his creed. What scares them?
@paulelliott45905 ай бұрын
True fact. Hitler visited Eagles Nest only once. He hated it. Albert Spier who designed it, forced workers to build the road and dig the shaft for the elevator in terrible conditions. Up until about 30 years ago it was called being a heavy drinker or "drinker". Now it's called "functional alcoholic" Lots, and lots, and lots of people who were Greatest Generation and Silent Generation were this way. Little things like the Great Depresion, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Cold War, sergregation, and Jim Crow laws will do that to a people. Most "functional alcoholics" are just that. They hold down jobs, carriers, families, friends, run a household, have hobbies. They may drink daily, or only on weekends, or a couple of times a month, but usually they will "cut loose" when they do and get drunk or drink more than 3 drinks in a setting. Then sober up and do the job. I've known many people that knock down half a pint or 6 beers 4-5 days a week and have succesfull carrriers and long lives. Not saying right or wrong, just stating facts.
