As one would expect, the band does an outstanding job. Strong tuba player closest to the camera. Thanks for posting.

Why are some sergeants stripes white and others gold on the uniforms?
@deliadunstan8464 жыл бұрын
white stripes means a corporal.queen victoria thought corporals vulgar
@johnmilliken52044 жыл бұрын
@@deliadunstan846 Close, but she actually thought one stripe was vulgar so you will never see a guardsman with only one stripe; the three stripes represent a lance-sergeant, which is the equivalent of a corporal, whereas three gold stripes mean a sergeant see two stripes sometimes referred to as a gold-sergeant. HTH
@moj62414 жыл бұрын
In the foot guards, there rank structure differentiates slightly whilst in comparison with other regiments in the army, particularly infantry regiments, it harkens back to Victorian time in which Queen Victoria believed seeing her foot guards with only one stripe was a insult. So on the guards, the chaps you see with two stripes, are called corporals, but identify as lance corporals to the rest of the army with those with three white stripes being called a lance Sargent, whilst again compared to the rest of the army they are considered corporals. The lads with the three golden chevrons are actual Sargents

On the Retreat to Corunna, when the British Army behaved appallingly and broke Sir John Moore's heart, the only regiment which held discipline was The Guards, so perhaps the Spanish felt safe.
