Fun story: you know this was an Avicii world hit, right? Dirty Loops opened for an Avicii show years ago, but the audience didn’t appreciate them at all and they were buued at.

That's from Jonah's interview by Jeff right? I could imagine the general audience not appreciating what they do, but I really had trouble believing how stupid people can be when Jonah shared this incident.

Great comments Bob. This is one of my favorite DL songs. The beginning is so soft and lyrical. And then they loopify the roof off it and it totally becomes a DL song-no shade meant on the original. It's just that when DL "cover" something they always interpret it with so much secret sauce the flavor becomes all theirs. Loved that you reacted to this.

Hey Robot! They sure did loopify it. Man they just make things so much saucier. I love it.

Hey Bob, so glad to see another Dirty Loops reaction from you, and it was awesome! Thanks a ton for that. And this song, seriously it rips your head off, especially in that last section… Someone else also mentions that the original by Avicii was a big hit, not sure if you’ve heard it. But as always, it’s worth listening to the originals which the Loops are covering. Always makes my jaw drop even further ;) I also appreciate how you give due to Jonah’s vocals, and man he sings his heart out! I listen to this tune and the whole Loopified album almost every day, and discover new things and layers every time. Not kidding, and I guess it’ll be like this to the end of time 🤣 there’s so much stuff going on in there. In this song (as in so many others), Jonah’s vocal layering/choir effects in the background are insane, too. Then you’ve got his crazy ways with chord progressions and harmonies on the keys… THEN you’ve got Aron and Henrik doing their thing and being absolute masters in what they’re doing… And that last section?! Who ever would think of dropping something like this at the end of a country-style tune 💥 Although you can feel something evil’s about to happen when you hear those bass lines rocking up :) If that last section is an improv, not sure. I guess some sections in their recordings could be improvised, but on the whole they’re pretty much constructed and written out. What gets me though is how no one ever steps on anyone else’s feet. Everyone gets to shine like crazy for a few seconds, then they go back and someone else gets to blow our minds… I mean it’s what all good bands try to do, but Dirty Loops have taken this to a new level, I feel. Sheesh, they’ve taken EVERYTHING to a new level… Any other song of theirs would make for an awesome reaction from your channel. “Roller Coaster”, “Circus”, and all of the other songs from Loopified, would be a good place to start 😉 Oh and their Samsung Galaxy ringtone version, another must-watch! Thanks for this vid, Bob, it made my day 🙏

@@saranebeling6375 No, they've known each other longer than that (Henrik and Jonah since middle school, and they got to know Aron when he moved to Stockholm at the age of 16, to attend music high school), and the reason they started Dirty Loops had nothing to do with school work. They started the group in 2008 as a hobby project, to have somewhere to test out all their ideas and have a safe place where noone could tell them what (and what not) to do, as they were a bit bored and frustrated with the restrictions that comes with being a session musician. They didn't exactly know where to start and decided to just take a top 40 song (I think the very first one was Rihanna's Don't Stop the Music) and make a fusion cover of it. They've said in interview that their quite special sound was just there from the start. When they put their first video up on youtube in 2010 (Lady Gaga's Just Dance) it was just as a booking reference, to see if they could get a gig or two, and it was still just for fun, as they believed their music was way too unsexy for anyone to actually like it. They were quite wrong about that though, and their videos went viral rather quickly. 😃

Lotta slayed us again with her in-depth comment, thanks a bunch for this, Lotta, it’s always so interesting. Much appreciated 👍 And Sara, yes this cover is on their very first album, Loopified (someone gave it to me for Christmas ☺️), and so still is an early Dirty Loops piece. And some of the other videos from Loopified look as if they were recorded casually in a music academy-type building, but aren’t actually. Tricky stuff ;)

Michael, jazz yes, but also so much more, I think. I love the way they seem to defy any genre categorization (maybe that’s called jazz? 😉) To me, it’s the craziest mix of everything, including jazz, soul, rock and funk, but also classical, and I just love it 🫶
