Ale generally uses her fingers but says that she's more on time with a pick. But she just uses whichever is more appropriate for the sound she wants to achieve.
@RipThru5 ай бұрын
Agreed, the first time I saw her use a pick was in Animosity, for the reasons you and Bob mentioned.
@lonelywind35115 ай бұрын
yes, even way back on the cover of Resistance she showed her versatility by switching between pick and finger style a few times during the song and has only gotten better at being able to switch up mid song to get the sound she wants.
@tomcanfield7055 ай бұрын
I understand that Ale sometimes swaps, fingers to pick in a song, somehow holding the pick. Don't know how. This song is a quintessential TWB layout. We get to hear that subtly cool Ale bass line, as Dany sings the main chorus with no guitar, which also allows her to prowl the stage. Big expressions on her face, in her eyes! Then the guitar/bass riff.. Pau does some really cool kick drum patterns on, then off the beat, here, as well as the fun cymbal work. And Dany...those give-me-chills high notes, in her chest voice...oh, come on!

Ale is one of a kind… but I have to disagree. I notice all the reactors adore Ale. I think that Ale… while doing some amazing, but sometimes unnoticed things on that bass… she stays in pocket. The ones that kinda do variations that are good for discussion are Pau & Dany… of course. 1. Singing is one of them. 2. While playing their instruments… is another. 3. Their activity & facial expressions is yet another. Yes… Ale sings beautifully. That is always mentioned. Yes… Ale is like a 50 yr old bassist in a 19yr old body. Great choices. That is also mentioned often. You may just be so enamoured with her that you feel that she isn't liked… but I definitely see things differently.

Ale prefers to play with her fingers, but will use a pick when it is needed. She says she prefers the sound of a pick, but enjoys playing with her fingers more. Pau's drums sound so 'bouncy' in this song. And when you see the shots of her, she is almost bouncing on her stool while playing it. She says Automatic Sun is her favorite to play from the new album, now that she has her timing down. She had trouble slowing herself down enough to play it. You really need to check that one out. The pick for the bass is somewhat new. She goes back and forth depending on the song (and sometimes mid-song) The bass itself is pretty new, too, her new main. Dany's also on a lot more different guitars in their shows, I guess they got sick of re-turning between songs (and the errors that sometimes caused) so they're just switching when needed. For their most recent set, it was two PRS, two Manson for one song each and her new (I believe?) Fender for one song.

Ale started using a pick a lot more on the last album. The song Error she switches between pick and fingers. She uses fingers most of the time but using the pick is catching up. If you look at her mike stand she has more picks than Dany.

Ale plays with a pick when needed, sometimes dropping one on the stage, then later in same song grabbing another one.

If your a musician, timing is normally instinctive, otherwise thinking will stuff it up, natural timing, a muso's best friend. Rock is now safe. The warning.
