Omar, this was one fantastic video. So well put together. As usual, your comedic personality pulls the best out of subjects. BTW, is that assistant being paid or is it child slave labor? LOL!! Great seeing your son with you. Is he learning the biz? Congratulations on this video and partnership with B&H. You definitely deserve the stage! I think Nikon is going to need to step up production after this video gets around! Again, nice job, congratulations and have a great weekend!!

I have have all Z6 generations - there is a bigger jump from the II to the III than from the I to the II - and currently use my Z6II next to the Z6III and the old Z6 is a backup. But I will upgrade to another Z6III in next fiscal year, because the new one is much better. But also because the color output is slightly different, which messes up my post processing when using the Z6II & Z6III side by side - which I always do on wedding & events. It's really missing one feature to make it the perfect compact performer and that is a way to quickly disable & enable subject detection. This is possible on the Z9/Z8 - which I have rented a couple of times. It's merely a software / menu thing, so it's easy to put in the option to assign "toggle subject detection to function button". Now you can only assign another AF mode to a Fn button. Which is not the same of course. You paid for that improved 3D tracking.... I just hope Nikon is not leaving this out on purpose, that would be quite cynical.... Because now it feels like buying a great mulitpurpose SUV, but the manufacturer is leaving the handbrake on and you can't unlock it. Metaphor for dramatic purposes.
@ogonzilla2 ай бұрын
True. For events, I set up three custom buttons for AF, with one as you said disabling subjects. Check out my “I've changed these things on my z6iii” cheera
@caleidoo2 ай бұрын
@@ogonzilla You mean you assign a different AF mode - dynamic or single point most likely - to a Fn button? You're not implying you can be in 3D tracking with subject detection and assign a button to temporarily disable the subject detection of your 3D tracking?

Does the EVF match the rear screen? On my Z6II, the EVF and rear screen don't match. The shadows are brighter in the EVF even in playback. Thank you
@BandH2 ай бұрын
The resolution and smaller physical design of the 0.5" EVF renders it far brighter with better contrast than the 3.2" articulating touchscreen LCD. The touchscreen does offer a 15-level manual brightness control. >Mark

Yes, I did...think he was referring to senior citizens. And while probably 90 percent of the audience said "Whew!" and wiped their brow when he elaborated, I was actually disappointed because I want to specialize in portraiture for families of hospice patients, which, by and large, means senior citizens. I would love a video on all of the special considerations pertaining to "seniors": Senior citizens, that is. Posing while working with limited mobility, limited hearing, lighting gray hair, etc.

How does this compare with the Z6II in terms of auto focus? I'm wondering if I should upgrade or if this is a marginal improvement over the 6II.

It’s significantly improved

Re: switching between photo & video. I'm assuming you're not popping on an ND or VND when doing this on the fly. What's the best shutter setting in this situation, since most of the time (in daylight) you won't be able to set the shutter to double the frame rate? Or, do you not worry about this for "casual" vids?
@ogonzilla2 ай бұрын
No ND, shooting at 60fps, so that's a 1/125th shutter. Not worrying too much but if you are, take a look at some magnetic ND filters. Right on and off.

But why is an under 20 kid called senior? I know my Latin and it literally means "the elder" so it is a comparative statement, not superlative, but still, senior? Who invented that? 16 YO kids? Nice & fun video - as always, Omar. I agree with your lens choices because I make the same choices. The 24MP is not why the Z 6iii is more friendly to skin imperfection than 45MP - that difference is not large enough. The actual cause is that the 24MP has a fuzzy filter (formally called OLPF or AA filter) that takes sharpness away, while the 45MP Nikon has that thing eliminated. Our 50/1.8S and 85/1.8S are some of the sharpest lenses out there - especially when paired with the no-fuzzy-filter 45MP. And the 20/1.8S is a great lens too. Have you tried the 105/2.8S macro lens? You would love it for stills. Less heavy than the F-mount 105/1.4E+FTZ.

Personally, I found the Nikon Z6 III's skin tones more pleasing and the Rich Tone Portrait files matched my style much more the R6.
