+Super Boy Anthony The first tripod Mia demonstrated was the Magnus VT-4000 Tripod System with Fluid Head, a stable, sturdy video tripod made from anodized aluminum that can support loads up to 8.8 lb. Overall, this tripod offers many features usually only found on more expensive models. The two-way fluid head provides smooth operation, and features a half-ball mount with a diameter of 65mm, with left and right pan bar mounts. It comes supplied with one pan bar. In addition, unlike most other heads in its class, all the head controls are positioned on the left side of the head, which leaves your right hand free for the panning handle. The VT-4000 tripod system weighs 7.9 lb. B&H # MAVT4000. bhpho.to/1mb8rlW. Here is a link to all three of the tripod systems shown in the video: Video Tripods and Fluid Heads bit.ly/VideoTripodsandHeads Please contact us via e-mail if you have additional questions: askbh@bandh.com.>Mark

I am stuck between the Davis & Sanford Provista 7518 Tripod with FM18 Head or the Magnus VT-4000, I am only going to be using the tripod for video (Movies/Short films) They both look professional & sturdy but it's hard to say when there not right in front of you, Which one of these two would you suggest?
@BandH9 жыл бұрын
Stromedy Both are excellent choices. The Davis & Sanford Provista 7518 Tripod with FM18 Head will support more than twice the weight of the Magnus VT-4000making it the perfect studio tripod for applications of up to 18 lbs. It also offers dual adjustable pan handles for greater control and includes a 10-Year Warranty. That said, if portability is important, than the Magnus has the edge as it is lighter and more compact. This is still a valid presentation to point out the differences in practice. It's too bad that marketing pressure makes "fluid head" in advertising often meaningless compared to how some heads perform.

I have used a lot of different Tripods and fluid heads over the years. Some OK, most bad. A good friend said that my camera on my tripod was like putting re-tread tires on a sports car. I then went out and got a Cartoni Tripod. Cartoni is the absolute best for my line of work and shooting style.

I'd prefer a ground spreader as you can take them off to use on uneven ground, tighter spaces etc. (some mid spreaders can be removed but they're more involved to get off/put back on). I've been able to get the tripod into locations where a mid spreader would not be able to. The stability on low angle shots is greater as well as being able to get to a lower angle than a mid spreader.

2:37 - "Moving up a bit in quality to a fluid head like you'll find on this Satchler tripod, you can expect a counter-balance control, in addition to the locks and tension controls. ... The other two heads have a fixed non-adjustable counter-balance ..." This is confusing since B&H's listing for the Manfrotto 502HD states that it DOES have a counter-balance control from 0 to 16.5 lb. I do see mention of this as a "three step counter-balance adjustment" though, so it's not super precise.

What is the best budget 7 ft. high tripod to buy that I can use for videoing government type meetings to shoot over the heads of people walking in and out of meetings? The first one I bought was a Bower for only about $26 through Amazon and also sold locally at places like Office Max and Best Buy. It served my needs well until this week when the telescoping extension jammed and I was afraid to put any more pressure on the cranking plastic handle for fear it would break. I guess everyone learns the hard way why the price is this low. I don't find many ads for 7 ft. high tripods, though. I would love to step up to a fluid head one if I could get i in the $100 range, but my budget doesn't allow me to even think about $400-$1100 or more tripods on my senior budget. I may have to resort to just continue buying the Bower one and realize I may be buying one every six months.

I have a Hama Delta Pro 1802D tripod. Unfortunately, the ball head does not now support the weight of my camera (Nikon P900), it slowly tilts forward. Could you tell me if there is any way of adjusting the fluid ball joint to make it lock in position. Hama don't seem to have a help desk.
@BandH9 жыл бұрын
+Mavis McCordick Unfortunately we do not carry Hama tripods and this is not a model I am personally familiar with. In researching it online the capacity of the tripod/head should be close to 11lbs. I was not able to find any details about the head having a lock, and generally I would not recommend overtightening the knob but that may be the only option. My next idea was to swap the head for a new/different head, but I was not able to find any details as to whether the head can be removed. If that's something you'd be interested in exploring, see if you can try and remove the head, if its removable it should come off by turning counter-clockwise. If you reply back with your findings we can then see about recommending an alternate head for you. - Yossi

@life_xplorers10 жыл бұрын
If I opted for the Manfrotto non-ball version, you say one has to put the head in balance by adjusting the tripod's legs. My question is: Can I put an optional ballhead in between, such as the SIRUI K-20X? That way I could balance the Manfrotto head all the time easily by adjusting the Surui's ball.
@BandH10 жыл бұрын
While you could put the Manfrotto head on a ball head such as the SIRUI K-20X, this wouldn?t be advisable. You start to decrease the stability of the system when you start stacking heads. *Christina* askbh@bandh.com
@life_xplorers10 жыл бұрын
B and H Meanwhile I bought them both and I start running into problems when increasing the panning friction ring (the screw of the quick release plate of the K-20X loosens). But I just cannot figure out how to level the Manfrotto head in a quick way when I just have the legs to do so. Any suggestions?
@BandH10 жыл бұрын
Video1 If you are having troubles getting the tripod level just using the legs, you might go with a leveling base, such as the Sirui LE-60 Leveling base. This would be a much better solution than a ball head, as it will have little effect on the stability of the system. bhpho.to/1emzB7C *Christina* askbh@bandh.com

Hi, today I received a 48" slider and quickly realized that my targus tripod is a joke. Would the magnus vt 4000 be able to hold my slider without much flex? I'm also very limited on funds so the higher end tripod are out of reach. As far as cameras I'm using small action cameras like gopro and drift innovation
@BandH9 жыл бұрын
Depending on the slider and camera package, sliders will tend to dip on the far ends, especially one that is that long. Weight most likely won't be an issue, especially with a DSLR. To be honest, the best solution for 4 ft sliders is to use light stands on each end, which will ease concerns about flexing. It's cheap, and majority of sliders now offer a 3/8-16 threading on each end. A heavier tripod, such as the Davis & Sanford Provista 7518 (B&H # DAPVT75) would be a better choice than a Magnus. |Heather S|

Is there any fluid head pan and tilt tripod in manfrotto where we can go portrait from landscape.

Take a look at this one: Manfrotto MT190X3 Aluminum Tripod with MH293D3-Q2 3-Way Photo Head B&H # MAMT190X3K15 (B&H Kit). Cameras, sport optics, or camcorders that are compatible with a 1/4"-20 mount can be connected to the quick release plate before securing it to the pan-and-tilt head. The head can be rotated 360°, tilted 90° forwards or 30° backwards, as well as 90° sideways for portrait orientation. Both the 360° rotation as well as the backward and forward tilt movements function simultaneously, however for changing from a landscape to portrait orientation, the sideways tilt can be independently adjusted and secured. bhpho.to/2XwU2N1 >Mark

I know y'all aren't an advice forum, but I gotta ask... what's a good stabilizing solution for taking photos from ground level? Most tripods can get low to the ground, but I'm looking for a solution where the base is naturally compact and not too tall (so I'm not constantly lowering something). So, to get a Magnus VT-4000 Professional, it will cost you about $160.00, while a Manfrotto MVH502A is anywhere from $300 to $400 dollars depending on which base you combine the head with. I'm a small DSLR filmmaker who was looking to invest a few hundred dollars into a very nice tripod that will last me a very long time. Is there a reason for that dramatic change in price, or would a Magnus still allow me to get very similar quality shots?
@BandH6 жыл бұрын
As you go up the ladder in price, tripods will start to go up in various ways. Higher quality materials, better build quality, more features and higher load capacities. Since you are using a DSLR load capacity is not a major concern. The Sachtler Ace M is a great option for a Tripod that is a few hundred dollars that will last for years and give you great results. bhpho.to/2dCkblA Thanks! -Joey P
