Since being out of school the rival against SU will forever be the highlight of being involved in band. My JSU Boom did well, and the Jukebox did well too, however there were a few hiccups from both sides. The thing I learned about participating in 5th quarters is that you're battling for bragging rights. They're fun and keep you on your toes. But there is no official winner. The real win is being able to give the fans a quality battle. The trash talk is always fun, but I have a great deal of respect for Jukebox. We love one another outside of this and cant stand each other when we suit up. Still a good job by both. @KBThaBandhead thank you for always delivering great content and pray that you continue to grow and become even bigger to rhe point where you begin to spread band content to folks all over the world. You're doing that now, but to be known and compensated fairly for it.

I have to agree with KB. Close but SU won. JState had too many mistakes and they def have taken a step back in the quality of sound and book compared to last year. No cap last year was amazing. But this yr so far is not a good follow up. SU is only going to get better based on what I heard. Trumpets gotta get stronger… SU with the win here tho based on song selection and execution. Stallions over dawg team this time too.

JSU was flatout the better band. The Drum Majors were killing it on the March-in (check them out, you will not regret it) You get the JSU experience from the moment the band get off the bus to the moment they get back on. JSU took the March-in, taking their seats, the 5th, the March-out, and the bus ride home. JSU Band is a full experience. It is truly a Show. Southern is an elite band and being honest, they snatched the Zero quarter. Seeing JSU Drum Major performance was energetic and lit you knew they were ready. One thing for sho i'm sure the Beast of Bayou City 🌊 ,TSUnami, is waiting on both of them and yall already know they are an exceptional elite band from the Twirlers to the Flag corp. So DM , Majorettes, everyone, even the BD & Maj. Director, bring your A games. They give a full experience as well. And oh, they know how and when to be petty. Also, when comes to brass performances, ASU has played something no one has responded to,yet. @kbthabandhead great job and keep the pressure on all of them.

I love both Dr. Little and Dr. Taylor. But you can tell both still need some work. They need to move the boom box back another couple of weeks. I still think it's too early. They still working out kinks. Something about those silver trumpets at JSU. And them stallions at SU. But overall it was ok. Not as good as the old classics. Being a Tuba /baritone player man people don't understand the diaphragm work it takes to maintain clarity when playing and you are tired. Ishh is rough. Let's give it up to both of them. I knew when he gave SU the first round he was on some bull. The first song JSU played was the most difficult and technical song played in the battle. On top of that SU had tempo problems on that first song. U dont know music like u claim. The tubas were not meant to play out on the first song JSU played. SU sounds horrible compared to Jsu. That 1st round most definitely went to SU. Jackson had not one, but TWO MAJOR TEARS, where the whole band was like 1 beat off from the drumline.... Like it literally almost fell apart TWICE... 🤷🏾‍♂️ It was definitely a tougher arrangement, but JSU didn't execute it well. 🤷🏾‍♂️

ROUND 1 = JSU (Difficulty: JoJo Bizarre Anime) ROUND 2 = JSU (Knockout) ROUND 3 = JSU (Chords, Vibe) ROUND 4 = JSU (Changed the Flow) ROUND 5 = JSU (Arrangement, Chords) ROUND 6 = JSU (Changed the Flow) ROUND 7 = SU (Better Tempo) ROUND 8 = JSU (Old School Arrangement) ROUND 9 = JSU (SU Left & Didn’t have to) Southern: Trumpets were Olympic Ice Skating, Trombones need Milk, Tempo Issues with Tubas (who didn’t know the Music), Arrangements were long and out of touch with the Audience, and the Arrangements lack Voicing and were Elementary at times. The fact you barely acknowledged the many, many SU errors.. the fact that SU Alumni gave JSU the win.. shows your bias. Hell, dancing dolls didn’t even know the song selections; and wouldn’t dance until mid-song. Lol. Jackson: Percussion Tempo was worse the 100% Wet Reverb, Mellophones Disappeared like Peek-a-Boo, Tubas were missing on the first Song, and Band Members became Bored with the Battle itself. JSU had a response for each SU selection until they decided to change the battle. J-Settes reminded me of Miami girls back in the early 90s (they would dance until they couldn’t dance no more). Lol. The overall ambience/readiness was there with JSU. JSU for the win.

My two cents, idk how you missed the SU tuba tempo issue on the 1st song.. neither band was particularly clean. JSU song selection was interesting. Plus the songs they chose wasn't executed like I'm use to. The trumpets sound like they gotta go to the heavens too much. They up there but every song doesn't require that. SU has definitely improved. They just gotta fix those skating moments and the upper brass (especially the trumets) need to push through in some songs. Trumpets are definitely better than last season. If they can master that one complex piece by CT....🔥🔥🔥 By this being the 3rd or 4th game, I expect each band will make some adjustments.

Great observations. Song selection was definitely JSU problem. They have a great book but you have to know when to call the right songs. But like you said, it is early in the season. I can't wait for the TXSU vs JSU and TXSU vs SU.

I love hearing differing opinions. Most other channels said JSU won or tied. I do think jsu was better, but southern was better than last year. The consensus has been either a tie or jsu got the edge.

I believe both of these bands have a tendency to do too much at times leading to mistakes but at someone that didn’t go to either one of these schools I think SU made more mistakes. Just listen to the music. I also think to say “SU is back” is a wild statement because they aren’t nearly as polished or balanced as they usually are. Just because we can ooh and aah because they sound off on the last two notes of the song doesn’t mean the entire song was executed well. Jackson had a better sound and executed better than SU..But this is also why I wish this game wasn’t in September. Needs to be in October! That will hopefully give the bands the time they need so folks won’t be in the comments section making excuses!

SU mainly got power mainly cuz of all them tubas. the drumline is Sorry, upperbrass solid, and every other sections is have their moments. Also, they got some SIMPLE Arrangements, but they gon play it loud asf, however they are better than they were last year. JSU has all around balance with enough power throughout sections, and the music is obviously more challenging than any other band in the south, but this can cause some parts to get lost or tempo issues, but I always feel the musicality just differently…. idc how to explain it honestly. Good Battle tho, I wish it were later in the year though.
