Did they have modern concrete structures like the rail bridge in the opening scene? Obviously they did not; so why show it?

The first "modern" concrete was used in the UK in the 1700's, therefore it should be plausible in the 1800's in the USA. (From the "history of concrete"

The first concrete arched bridges in the US were built in the 1870s. But it wasn't until about 1890 when steel rebar was added to reinforce concrete. That's when concrete structures began to reach their full potential. In the movie, there's a line about the character, Ricky Shot, making a coward out of Jesse James. That was not a historical reference because Ricky Shot is a fictional character written and created for this movie. However, the reference does roughly date the movie because we know that Jesse James lived between 1847 and 1882. As a young teenager, he joined the Confederates and began fighting in the Civil War in 1861, until he was shot trying to surrender at age 17 in the Spring of 1865. After the war, Jesse began his life of crime in 1866. We have no idea how or when the fictional character Ricky Shot encountered Jesse James and "made a coward" out of him. Did it happen during the war or after? Was that story a piece of revisionist history, where Ricky Shot is supposed to be the man who killed Jesse James? We don't know, but we can make a good guess that this movie takes place sometime after the Civil War ended in 1865 and possibly even after Jesse's death in 1882. This means that although concrete structures had not reached there full potential yet, it's very possible that this movie takes place sometime during or after the 1870s when a low level concrete bridge might've have been practical.

@@skybluemarshall so much history in a movie, sometimes you can even learn while being entertained.
