These are great. Rare, but awesome. Just don't stand there after you put a branch because it will punish you viciously. My first brush chipper was a 1290, I've been waiting to buy a replacement engine for a long time since I had to buy another chipper when I blew the engine. My new chipper is a hydraulic feed and it can eat logs up to 12" so there is really no comparison. But the brutal simplicity of the drum feed machine is the best thing about it. If the engine starts, it works!

Anyone remember the chippers back in the 1960s which sounded somewhat like a siren? The sound pitch wouldrop from the wood being chipped buthen rise back up to speed. Drum chippers? Our current chipper is a feed-wheel chipper with safety reverse bar surrounding the hopper.

I've been fascinated by chippers since my childhood days in the 1960s. Too bad I can't buy one :- (

These are much safer than the auto feed models. The drum is far away from the operator. The new auto feed units have the feed drums much closer to the operator
