@@edwardbarnes3389 They posted the video for 'Secret Maiko Lips' on April Fools Day, and announced on all of their social media platforms that BAND-MAID would be known as BAND-MAIKO going forward. It was definitely intended as an elaborate prank on their fans. That doesn't mean it wasn't executed at the highest level, or without respect for Japanese traditions.

Hey ya'll. I just recently found your channel, and am really enjoying your reactions. A quick note about Japanese bands that somewhat made it in America--- the bands that made the biggest impact here (at least back in the day) were Loudness in the early/mid 80's metal scene, and Shonen Knife, who got a nice push in the early 90's. Loudness especially was well received, getting play on MTV and great word of mouth from their live shows. They kind of disappeared (from the US) with the rest of the Glam/Metal bands in the late 80's, but to me at least, they had the biggest success out of all the Japanese bands who ventured over here thus far. X Japan, for as great as they were, barely made a blip to be honest.

Hard to call it an April fool's joke when their first seven song album released last May on Revolver was entitled Band-Maiko. What a difference a year makes. Their new song Reincarnation from the upcoming new album to be released on December 11th maybe their best work yet. Appreciate your somewhat sanitized version of the duties of a Geshia. Always keep Miku's conception of the gap in mind and take nothing from Band-Maid on face value and especially western values. That last chorus is damn near transcendental. Regards from Sacramento.

Hey you two! Konichi wa, genki desu ka? Did you notice the food scene, everyone pauses then Akane is like “Screw this, I’m eating!” She’s such a foodie! In interviews she has bragged about how much she can eat. It’s her favorite hobby. I also can’t help but notice, Sandz, you have pretty impressive amount of sleeve tats! I keep hearing different KZbin vids saying tattoos are kind of socially frowned on in Japan. It’s really awesome Emi isn’t that closed off! Good on you, man! 💪🏻🤘🏻

Akane is definitely a foodie! I'd be interested in hearing where her top 5 spots to eat are. Tattoos are definitely socially stigmatized in Japan. If you're not asian it's not so much of an issue, but I cover up when I'm there. Luckily I had tattoos before we met, so it didn't bother her too much.

Did you notice how Akane was the first to eat at the table, like she said "screw this, I'm eating".....she's know for her constant eating so I found that a funny moment. BTW- Love your bunny with the revolver shirt.......I need one!

Sandz first of all nice reaction and secondly I think Frahamen was saying that Band Main posted the video on April 1st as an April fools day joke. Your idea of it being a parody is spot on with the addition of it being a parody as an April Fool's day joke

I think our ladies are making a rather profound statement here. Part of a Geishas' duties are those of a courtesan. Maiko is the lowest of that class. Saiki sings this in Kyoto dialect which is guttural and can be considered how one talks on the wrong side of town. I also think much of this context is not readily discernable to many westerners. Whatever your take it is well thought out and extremely well done. Best damn hard rock band on the planet today.
