Maybe I missed something here but how do you decide where the hinge rebates need to be on the frame? The video conveniently seems to skip this part of the process and move straight onto the handle and keep. Maybe I need to watch again in case I missed something. All the best from Mr no wood in hole

Hi there, 1:13 in the video shows you how to line up where the hinges would be on the door. If you have a new frame, you would prepare the frame first, using the same spacing shown in the video and then you can follow the steps in the video to line up the door. I hope this helps!

What if I need to preserve the existing door, but replace the frame? Should i put the door in the frame first, or put the frame up and then the door into the frame?

Hi there! We'd recommend that you take the door off the hinges and install the new frame. if the door no longer fits the frame, it will either need to be replaced or trimmed.

@@bandq Thanks. The frame is being rebuilt, and therefore made to fit the existing door. I just felt it might get the gaps to be aligned better if the door is in the frame when it's tilted up and into the rough opening, since the door could hold it in place.

Which side do you plane when doing the width is it the lock side or hinge side

Usually the door can be trimmed 6mm each side or as per manufacturer spec

If you have to remove the internal door first and hang the new one, we'd recommend 2 hours to complete (depending on an individuals DIY skills) 😊

The best way to do it is adjust your door frame to fit the door. Knock out more wall if needs be you should never have to cut a door.
