Totally agree with you. I'm a beginner and just got back from all three. I would never do Norquay again. Sunshine and Louise are amazing for beginners with my preference being Sunshine.

Norquay, while small, is not necessarily a beginner resort. However. Norquay is a fantastic resort for a lazy afternoon or night skiing. Travellers do not come to Banff to ski at Norquay. They come for the massive world class resorts. Lucky to call them home (and also my workplace)

Thank you !!!! great video! very helpful. I'm going this March. Looks amazing! never been. Very much looking forward to our trip. I've skied almost all of Colorado and Utah. And I'm Stoked!

Thanks for the comment! Have an amazing time, given the epic snowfall so far this year, they should have a HUGE base by March!

“I’m not a fan of steep, deep cut moguls” Yeah that explains your stance on Norquay. It’s a fantastic hill if you’re more concerned about getting in a ton of runs per day because they’re short and there’s no lines. Their expert terrain absolutely packs a wallop without the long ski outs needed on the Summit and West Bowl at Louise or the South Chutes at Sunshine. You can just loop it all day, constantly. The Mystic area isn’t bad for intermediates (with a few cool expert chutes) but as you said it has a ton of competition from areas like Larch and the lower frontside at Louise, or Wolverine at Sunshine. Great mountain, skied it a ton when I lived there but it’s tough to compete with those two jaw-droppers up the road.

Thanks for your comment. I completely agree and definitely can see the potential of Norquay's territory, especially of the snow conditions cooperate. I def spent much less time in line there that I did at Sunshine or LL!

Yeah dad would drop me off at norquay when I was a kid…. Don’t go up to the top! But I did, so I’ve been skiing the North American for 56 years now.

Thanks for the fantastic video, huge help! Just disappointing that the great footage you took and uploaded in 2024 is marred by 720p quality. 😕

Thanks! You're totally right about the quality, a rookie mistake. That was one the first videos I posted when I started the channel back in March. I hadn't figured out all the settings yet, and now that it has so many views I don't want to take it down to re-upload an HD version. Live and learn!

what’s the best way to get there without a car?
@GlobeDeckerАй бұрын
It's pretty far to Uber, but there's a number of paid airport shuttle van services to Banff from Calgary Airport. Once you are in Banff there's a free shuttle to the ski areas. www.skibig3.com/ski/ski-shuttle/

Louise is a better resort but longer drive. Louise is better if there is snow, Sunshine is better if there is lack of snow (icy conditions). I personally like Sunshine more because it is closer.

Skiing in Banff is more expensive than the Dolomites or Zermatt 😳
@GlobeDecker2 ай бұрын
Your experience may very well be different than mine. I went to both Banff and Zermatt last season; transport, accommodations, and food were all significantly more expensive in Zermatt.

If you have to stay in a hotel i would stay in clagary or cocran and drive in . Banff and canmore that i would promote 4 years ago. I dont know how a falmley can afford. so we stay there and drive the 1.2 hours in. Forget norcway .Do the rest!!

Thank you for not overselling Norquay. Banff Local
@GlobeDeckerАй бұрын
I hear ya! If I lived in Banff, I'd likely go to Norquay often! Short drive, friendly staff, and a wonderful low hassle, local mountain...but not a fly-in vacation destination.
