You were right, this tour did not disappoint. I've been to Yosemite (CA) during winter, but the views there in Banff seem to go on forever. We bought YakTrax, which are the same as your 'ice-walkers'. Totally worth the money. Honestly, I'm just speechless. Such beauty...majestic is the word that comes to mind, but also refreshing. It's like a peppermint sorbet for the soul. :)

Another gorgeous video. We've been to Banff N.P. a couple of times, but in the summer. You wouldn't believe how busy Johnston Canyon is in the summer. In fact, the entire park is crazy busy (rightfully so) and accommodation is very expensive. For mountain scenery, we now prefer California's Eastern Sierras. We can get stunning mountain scenery without Banff's crowds.
@MemorySeekers2 жыл бұрын
Hi Michael, yes I can well imagine summer being much busier, and at Johnston some of the paths are quite narrow so would get very annoying having to pass people all the time. Sounds like you found a new happy place to visit!

Canmore, Banff and area are beautiful. We have been lucky to visit a number of times over the years in the fall. I would work (as a photographer) The Masters Tournament at Spruce Meadows south of Calgary, then would tack on a small holiday. Going in winter. Well. Although I'm Canadian, I hate the cold and snow. LOL. So I'm happy to just view it through your eyes at that time of year.

It was amazing and the Johnston Canyon just out of this world, although in the final trip video we go to Maligne Canyon in Jasper, the deepest in the Rockies and that gave it a run for its money!

Gorgeous! Super film, so well done! So glad to see you in much more comfortable surroundings! Certainly what I would have gone for. Been to Banff, in the fall which is lovely, the snow would be an added bonus, but for brave outdoor enthusiasts this would certainty be an amazing adventure. I think you guys were quite brave! Having survived many a Northern US winter, it can be brutal - I think you were def blessed with good weather. (knowing what it can be like!) A good film for locals, too!
@MemorySeekers2 жыл бұрын
We were indeed blessed with good weather most of the time there. Banff is certainly easier to visit than the Yukon but the piece and quiet of the Yukon was very special. Not many places you can go these days and hardly see another sole.

Wow! Where to start? So much gorgeousness! The half frozen falls and the lake reflecting like glass..! And of course I loved the log cabin and lodge. My house is wooden and we didn’t use the same technique, bit I recognise it from when we were looking into it all. Absolutely fantastic, and the snow shoe table was such a cool touch. Wonderful video as usual, thank you!

A beautifully put together video! We were there for Xmas and new year and did many of the things you did in temperatures around -40°C. We didn't make it to Lake Minniewanka as we didn't trust the road conditions at the time. It gives us an excuse to go back in the summer though 😉
@MemorySeekers2 жыл бұрын
Oh I am glad we missed the -40, the worst we had was in Yukon the week before at -30 and that was pretty brutal. I remember the road to Lake Minniewanka not being too good. Yes a summer trip sounds fun but with that comes many more people visiting. Did like that in winter it was not too busy. Thanks for watching.
@davidmarshall7182 жыл бұрын
I am Western Canadian and lived in Banff 10 years. This is an excellent short introduction to the valley and mountains surrounding the town in winter. I really like the sense of quietness, isolation and space that you conveyed in this video which is so true of Banff at this time of year, judging by the fair amount of snow but Lake Minnewanka being only partly frozen over, it appears you were there in late November or early December.

Just remember folks... alot of Banff's hotels and restaurants have taken a huge hit and some are even shut down. Please think bout the locals and the tourism and how it effects everyone there. They are struggling in Banff just as much s the rest of Canada dealing with Covid and its hitting Banff HARD. Just a FYI before you start thinking it's some kind of magical place that has not been effected. Stay safe. And stay home.
