I last heard this song in a BBC documentary on the Afghan Wars ... 30 years ago. It's stayed with me since, as all great marching songs do. My best memory of it is singing it with a classmate in an Italian restaurant in Singapore whilst four sheets to the wind. Wonderful.

Do you have the lyrics to this song? I am writing a commemorative piece for full symphonic band, recognising the 3rd Afghan war, I am looking at this song for its particular reference to Afghanistan. After listening carefully to the lyrics, they are quite poignant and deep, perhaps not that dissimilar to today.
