Great video! Very informative! I just have one thing to add and other viewers may find this useful too. I noticed that when I did it your original way, the first pull would have a delay of the full 5 seconds whereas the 2nd and 3rd and so on pulls would have a delay of roughly 2 seconds. This is due to not filling the reservoir up fully with fluid and the air remaining inside the chamber will pass through the delay hole much faster. To solve this, and have consistent subsequent delays, at around 7:30, before putting in the spring and the plunger, try to dump a bit of fluid right on top of the top stopper plate. This ensures the other side of the reservoir that your method didn't originally fill, would be filled with fluid. With this method, I am able to generate consistent 5-second delays that I have tested with around 10 pulls. Of course, over time, fluid will leak out. After a number of pulls, you will have to go through this process again, but its just a little maintenance to keep your gear running top-notch. Hope you can make an updated video showing this or pin this comment for other users. its the worst feeling when you pull the pin and before you can throw it, the grenade pops in your hand.

I also used Superlube Oring Silicone Lubricant as my "hydraulic fluid". It has a very thick consistency and worked great in my timer heads (in case somebody doesn't have access to the Lucas Oil stabilizer that you used.

I've noticed that the time delay is shorter on hot days. I tested it and put the timer in the fridge for a bit, and sure enough, the delay went back to 5 seconds to whereas before it was going off at around 2-3 secs. Have you experienced this?
@tony83719abc
@tony83719abc 3 ай бұрын
@@unfussylobster I think that it is a very normal situation because the internal oil becomes less fluid at low temperatures and more fluid at high temperatures. If you want to increase the delay time, you can achieve this by using oil with a higher viscosity coefficient.

I literally have 12 of these, including a full set of 12 extra timer heads that A.I. sent me the first time they died, all 24 timer heads have been dead for (what feels like) years, you have saved me good sir, and I dearly wish I could give more then a like, comment and sub. Words cannot describe how appreciative i am that you took the time to make this tutorial. from the bottom of my heart thank you.

Another super important point: make sure that when you put the top flange in, check that when you insert the spring into the two retention holes on the top plate and the plunger, the eyelet hole for the pin is aligned with the openings on the top of the timer head... Otherwise, when you pull the pin, and the plunger drops, it may realign to a position you cant put the pin back into.

My AI Tornado 2 Timer Grenade stopped working 2~ years ago, it basically detonates immediately and they folded as a company, so I had an expensive brick. Thought I'd just have a quick Google again to see if more recent posts on self-fixes have been posted on the Net and a Reddit posted linked your video! Although a different grenade, the firing pin looks exactly the same - make sense for them to use the same machined component. So I am very hopeful!! Will keep you posted!

Just an update - it has fixed my grenade! Using 10K weight silicone oil and prefilling the spring cavity prior to compression and then filling the remainder - it took a whole 10-11 seconds to detonate on the longest setting. So there's much for me to test and tweak, but I am so happy to get this back to a working state. Thank you so much for this video!! 🤗

Really awesome video man, I did some research online and learn so far as of now that if you use silicone differential oil with a viscosity of 10k cst is the one you should use, I will give it a try and update this with the results

@sausageofmarnies2799 Жыл бұрын
Yeah I've heard traxxas 10k is another good option, I didn't know that before I started looking so I ended up with the Lucas but it works well and since it is a substance meant to be used in engines I doubt it'll have negative side effects on something as simple as a B22
@SexySolidSnake
@SexySolidSnake Жыл бұрын
@@sausageofmarnies2799 the 10k so far works pretty well, helps for anyone looking for a specific viscosity or if they wanna change or shorten their timers I was worried the lucas might eat away the o rings whatever it's made or additives it has, but I know for sure silicone is a safe bet for orings
