The main reason for fast journey is. 1.No loop line to give way to shatabadi,rajdhani,humsfar.(temporary not functioning) 2.No coal goods train or petrol wagon loop lines. 3.Since very old route of chennai - Bangalore railroad it's always standard time and max speed ..less intersection cross ( means for example Tirunelveli express slowdown while reach kadambur intersection of Tuticorin track) ..To avoid sleep killer issues. Reserv/ Book only upper berth mid of coach. Walk as much as you can from your hotel room to Station in case less luggage .( Hope Bangalore climate not to worry )

Likewise this train, 06063- Chennai egmore to nagercoil sf Express departs egmore at 18.55 and reaches thirunelveli at 5.00 am by taking just 10 hours instead of 11 hours. It is weekly express (Thursday)

Shatabdi doesnt have any stoppages except Bangalore cant. But it take 5 hours.. But Bangalore Mail has Stoppages like Bangalore Cant, Bangarpet, Jolarppet, Katpadi, Arakkonam, Perambur.. Still it manages to reach in 5 hrs 15 mins.. So comparatively Bangalore Mail is faster than Shatabdi

First time I travelled by this train in 2000. At that time, cauvery express was just introduced. Mail used to be the slowest train in that line. Cauvery was superfast. And then sometime in 2003 I think all the mail's were made superfast. Since that time, this train has maintained that reputation.

Kaveri was never a super fast. It was and is an Express traini.

Kaveri was never a super fast train. Mail itself became Super fast much later. In the 90s Mail used to take 7hrs and 15mts while Brindavan used to take 5hrs and 40 minutes and Lalbagh used to take 5hrs and 15mts.

This train is the best in all months except Dec. Not sure if the problem is rectified, if not during dec this train will run 13 hrs later. Yes it is thirteen, not mistyped. That was due to rake sharing with Karnataka exp which also runs late due to fog in Delhi.
