@@avengedsevenfold249 I think you can do that. Just take an energetic backing track like this one and play a simple 4/4 rhythm over it like he’s doing here. Do that for a while and then start singing some melodies. It shouldn’t take long if you played around on drums before and you’ll see that you can do that. Don’t get me wrong, I love Radiohead and Thom but I just think saying “this is unbelievable” for this is kind of an overstatement.

@@thezeek2745 because there is some layered syncopated shit going on with the snare that you can't play with one set of drums. There is 4 hits on the snare on each bar, a basic 4/4 beat only has 2 per bar. So I'm guessing they originally had Phil overdub the drums on recording, meaning they would need 2 drummers for the live take.

IMO the point of this song is to have a ruff, garag-ee, lo fi vibe. 2 drum kits occupying the stero field, dirty, non introcate guitar riffs, the long pause (a great Nietzsche line at that) been one of my favs since the album came out.

far as l am concerned the entire effort can stay 'in the basement'. Talk about orchestrated crap, just barely rythmic sound bites of mostly discord. I got rid of some tenants who played even worse... When I asked- why is everything off key, and a-kilter? they said "that's the point". Now you can guess why they are NO LONGER tenants. My ears couldn't take them any longer! Needless to say, paying no rent for months was also a factor.. ;-)

@@parp what I could extrapolate was that this person is a landlord of some kind and has evicted some tenants that had formed a band and played like shit apparently according to this person who may just be biased or doesn't like the music (I wouldn't know I haven't heard them play) the tenants were allegedly often late with rent payments and this person really doesn't seem to understand the whole point of the "in the basement" sort of thing where it's a live performance that was recorded and broadcast rather than played on a stage. That concept is very ahead of it's time. Many people prefer the on the spot one shot thing with live performance. The goal of this was to replicate that sort of 'off the cuff' nature of a live performance. TLDR this landlord allegedly evicted their tenants because this person wasn't a fan of their music and in the process misses the whole point of these types of performances. The person thankfully included the detail about the missing payments because I honestly would've just thought that this person was an asshole.
