"My brother from another mother." I have a 2015 cb1100. Nobody wanted them in the USA. I picked mine up in Mississippi for $5300 with 1200 miles. Loved it so much I bought a second cb1100 as a back up bike. Bike is great for tall ppl if u tweak the seat to bench style. Downside is engine heat in high temps. Not sure i would want it in thailand stop-n-go. I will be signing up as a member once Google helps me recover my password!

While referred to as a transverse twin it is actually a longitudinal twin. The orientation of the crank in relation to the frame is the determining factor. As us Guzzistas like to say, "It's a V-twin done the right way."

1st post seems to have gone missing... There's a Bike clothing shop called Paddock on Ratchadaphisek Rd just north of Huai Khwang MRT. Good selection there and I think they have a facebook page. As for Big Bikes, there's little point having anything over a 650cc. You can't use the extra power excess of a 650 unless you no longer value your own life. Similarly the potholed roads make naked and ADV style bikes a better option than sportsbikes or cruisers. But many people only buy a big bike for their own ego... I'd love a Diavel 😁
@Rides4Kickz
@Rides4Kickz 2 жыл бұрын
I'd agree with most of that, longer suspension travel and chunkier tires are definitely your friend here. I've ridden some liter plus bikes here and would like to think I used the power, although it was not necessary to have that much.

hi lucas i dont often comment on vloggs but i have a question and value your opinion, i am a large person 125kg and wondered what or which motorbike you would recommend on a budget, i have rode automatic scooters but not geared motorbikes, and am considering getting a motorbike to keep at my girlfriends to use on my vaccations, i liked the look of GPX legend in one of your vloggs, but wondered if getting a second hand bike was worth considering, probably a bit of a gamble as my mechanical knowledge is limted, so open to buying a mule if its all shiny and looks sounds good, or should i stick to automatic scooter prob pcx or similar style large style scooter also would occasionaly have a pillion so i guess suspension would be a big factor, thanks for sharing this and all your vloggs, cheers

I never really recommend automatic scooters as there are many faults with them but expats here seem to love them. Yeah, maybe a standard type small bike in the 200-300 cc range. You can get a decent used one from 50k and up which would be the same price of a new scoot. Just stay away from higher mileage or older used ones and you should be ok.

Hey Lucas thanks for the view on the Indian shop I’ve been waiting for that for a long time. If you get a chance to go for a test ride on the scout I think you’ll really like it. I’ve had mine now since 2018 in fact I just did a trip from Edmonton to Vancouver Island. It was a lot of fun.

Can you buy a bike in Bkk if you're residing out of Bkk? You need to de-register the bike ship it out and re-register at your province of residence right?
@Rides4Kickz
@Rides4Kickz 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, so if it is a new bike, they may not want to give you a temporary red plate if you are taking it out of the province but used bikes will have plate already, if the plate is expired have them renew it and then whenever you get it home, just go to an inspection station with the green book and tell them you want to change plates to your home province and they should be able to help you with that for a fee.

Great vid. I was wondering if you can confirm for me that the prices on new bikes is ALL IN. Back home you can easily add 15-20% to the price with taxes and documentation fees as well as PDI. Thanx.
@Rides4Kickz
@Rides4Kickz 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, excellent question, the price advertised includes tax, license and dealer prep etc. It does not include and aftermarket accessories which may be already bolted on, like in the case of the Indian Scout I looked at with the bags etc., and it does not include delivery anywhere, that price is for taking delivery at the dealership.
@Roof_Pizza
@Roof_Pizza 2 жыл бұрын
@@Rides4Kickz Excellent, thanks. The prices seemed similar to hime bur with dealer prep and taxes and the better exchange rates Thai manufactured bikes are ~20% cheaper out the door. Thanks again.

I’ve been eyeballing the made in United States electric motorcycles called Zero. Might not be practical living in a condo in Southeast Asia unless there’s some sort of outlet that they would let you pay for charging? An electric motorcycle wouldn’t be for everybody but I rode one. They’re pretty incredible. I like their dual sport model. If I moved to Southeast Asia, I would have to look for a house for rent so I could charge my bike in the garage.

I assume the import tax for bikes is the same as cars? What bikes are manafactured in Thailand ? I’d never pay massive import fees for a particular brand
@Rides4Kickz
@Rides4Kickz 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, having final assembly done in Thailand lowers the price quite a bit. But even with the large Japanese manufactures like Honda and Kawasaki, some of the models are assembled here and others are assembled in Japan, so it's a mixed bag.

They make a lot of bikes there. IIRC almost all Triumphs, a lot of 650 Kawasakis and 650 or750 Hondas, Ducati, and BMW (F900GS I think). There's also quite a lot of scooters made there as well.
