While referred to as a transverse twin it is actually a longitudinal twin. The orientation of the crank in relation to the frame is the determining factor. As us Guzzistas like to say, "It's a V-twin done the right way."

1st post seems to have gone missing... There's a Bike clothing shop called Paddock on Ratchadaphisek Rd just north of Huai Khwang MRT. Good selection there and I think they have a facebook page. As for Big Bikes, there's little point having anything over a 650cc. You can't use the extra power excess of a 650 unless you no longer value your own life. Similarly the potholed roads make naked and ADV style bikes a better option than sportsbikes or cruisers. But many people only buy a big bike for their own ego... I'd love a Diavel 😁
@Rides4Kickz2 жыл бұрын
I'd agree with most of that, longer suspension travel and chunkier tires are definitely your friend here. I've ridden some liter plus bikes here and would like to think I used the power, although it was not necessary to have that much.

I never really recommend automatic scooters as there are many faults with them but expats here seem to love them. Yeah, maybe a standard type small bike in the 200-300 cc range. You can get a decent used one from 50k and up which would be the same price of a new scoot. Just stay away from higher mileage or older used ones and you should be ok.

Yes, so if it is a new bike, they may not want to give you a temporary red plate if you are taking it out of the province but used bikes will have plate already, if the plate is expired have them renew it and then whenever you get it home, just go to an inspection station with the green book and tell them you want to change plates to your home province and they should be able to help you with that for a fee.

I assume the import tax for bikes is the same as cars? What bikes are manafactured in Thailand ? I’d never pay massive import fees for a particular brand

Yeah, having final assembly done in Thailand lowers the price quite a bit. But even with the large Japanese manufactures like Honda and Kawasaki, some of the models are assembled here and others are assembled in Japan, so it's a mixed bag.

They make a lot of bikes there. IIRC almost all Triumphs, a lot of 650 Kawasakis and 650 or750 Hondas, Ducati, and BMW (F900GS I think). There's also quite a lot of scooters made there as well.

The Indians always look good. I don't ride but I like the look of the details of the Indians. Friend of mind back home has several Indians and a few Vintage ones also. Nice bike. Cheers

Why would you ever ship the bike when you can ride it?

Asking for a bit of help please mate, i'm coming for a year or two next month (at least) to rent a bike will cost about 1,500B a month or 18,000B a year, would it be worth me buying a second hand bike & is there anywhere in Pattaya that sells these? up to about 50,000B, thanks.
