this is pretty vanilla and like a travelogue--the narrator's voiceover sounds very pro...not very interesting but probably pefect for a newbie.... (I was just there last week in Patpong and had a good time)

I suspect you've never been to any of these areas as they're not at all like you say they are. 2000thb to watch a show in a go-go bar? Hogwash. Yes they pad your bill out "sometimes" but only if you're obviously drunk as a skunk and not paying attention to whats going on. But that happens all over the world. They dont present huge bills though in any of the red light areas in Bangkok......and they don't charge you for asking a girl to sit with you. Ask someone over you're expected to decide very quickly if she's staying or not and if she is staying you buy her a drink. Everyone knows how it works, why don't you? Bangkok red light areas are the safest I have been in anywhere, just don't be a nuisance and don't go looking for trouble.............and check your bill as you go along.

This is actually incorrect on some points. The sex industry was not initially created for the tourists or for the soldiers in the 60's. It was originally created for the Thai people themselves. It started with sex hotels or love hotels for "gik" or sex buddies. Also. Prostitution is actually illegal in Thailand and the Thai government can not openly own or be involved with this part of Thailand. In fact there was recently a big scandal in Thailand for some members of the government being caught inside one of the gogo bars in nana plaza. There is some good information in thus video but they didn't do their full research on the history or the governments involvement. The government just ignores it and allows it. The Thai police use it to get money from the bar owners. They pay the police to stay open and not get arrested. The way the bars operate is using a loophole to get around the Prostitution issue. Also, the women are not supposed to ever be topless or naked. That is also against the law. They pay fines or protection money to not receive the fines or get arrested.

The Thai government is the most hypocritical in the world. For example, The ministry of the law just allows animal fighting which is really primitive but the same ministry of the law doesn't allow prostitution which is really well organized and exist for more than 50 years. For example, Pattaya was a small fishing village and only because of the power of prostitution became one of the biggest Thai cities with 1.7000.000 people. Pattaya prostitution has multiple benefits because the whole poor people of the Issan area live much better because ladies from this area worked in the Pattaya sex industry and with their for Thai people pretty big incomes take care of their families. So, the Thai sex industry gives Issan poor people more than the Thai government does. I lived there a few years and have seen all this with my own eyes.
