தமிழ்நாட்டிலும் இதுபோன்ற மூன்று தண்டவாளங்கள் ஒரு ஊரில் இருந்தது. அது எங்கள் திருநெல்வேலி. மீட்டர்கேஜ் பாதையாக இருந்தபோது. நெல்லை நாகர்கோவில் வழித்தடம் மட்டும் அகலப்பாதையாக இருந்தது அதனால் திருநெல்வேலியில் இருந்து திருச்செந்தூர் பாதை பிரியும் இடம்வரை மூன்று தண்டவாளங்கள் இருந்தது. இப்போது எல்லாமே அகலப்பாதையாக மாறிவிட்டது. நவீன்குமார் விரைவில் குணமடைய பிரார்த்தனை செய்வோம். பங்களாதேஷ் பயணம் சிறக்க வாழ்த்துக்கள்.

Dual gauge was present in Tirunelveli Junction till Tamirabarani bridge. which was laid during British period. the track had carry train to tiruchendur in meter gauge and train to trivandrum in broad gauge. now all moved to broad gauge

Super Hair cut you had in Dhaka. It is really nice that in Bangladesh they are maintaining Composite tracks on which both BG AS WELL MG trains can be run. Just by way of information I want to tell here that till the electrification of Coimbatore-Tirupur section and Coimbatore - Mettupalayam section, there were 3 tracks from Coimbatore Jn to Coimbatore North Jn. Similarly before the Coimbatore - Pollachi section was made BG it was MG track and there were three tracks between Coimbatore and PODANUR.

@@DrSamAnderson I used to purchase cases of liquors for my islamic owner when I was working in Bangla desh. Even at Bangladesh I cooked my sathvic food without garlic and onions. Did thiruvaradanam daily and took it. I used to take outside food at Vallabacharya vaishnavite temple (Iskon) at Bangladesh.

@Transitbites kolandai assuming you were born around 2000s.. so you may not be aware of it. This dual gauge was there in India too.. albeit on a very minimal scale.. now they almost have become relics In India, Dual-gauge BG/MG tracks existed between Ponmalai (Golden Rock) and Thiruverumbur (which has a BHEL plant) which allowed both BG and MG locos to reach the Golden Rock loco workshop (this ran parallel to the erstwhile Thanjavur MG line for a few km). Sarupsar-Suratgarh (21.5km) (NWR, Bikaner division) was another BG/MG dual-gauge section; the BG part connected Suratgarh with Anupgarh, while the MG part connected Suratgarh to Sriganganagar. In our very own Chennai : The Madras Port Trust Railway used to have a large dual-gauge operation in the late 1950's - all harbour tracks were dual-gauge BG/MG. The shunting locos had BG couplers as well as offset MG chopper (NCDA) couplers. BG wagons were held at the north (Royapuram) end of the yard and MG wagons at the south (Madras Beach) end. Until April 2001, mixed gauge BG/MG track ran between Korukkupet station yard (with an Indian Oil depot) to Chennai Beach, passing through Washermanpet and Royapuram. It was also electrified, making it perhaps the only such mixed gauge track under the wires.

At MRTS, Thirumayilai station to Madras Beach station. The lines were dual gauge (meter + broad gauge). I remember seeing it till late 2000s. But I doubt if Meter gauge trains were ever run on MRTS, Chennai.

It was pretty common in India until late 90s. India slowly migrated from MG to BG and funds are allocated during every budget. Palakkad and Palakkad Town used to have "dual guage" for a long time until Palakkad to pollachi route was converted to Broad guage.

Hi Ajay: Interesting video of Dhaka. Those train tracks are certainly a good idea as it takes time and money to covert from meter gauge to broad gauge. Simple sentences in Bengali for you "tumar / apnar naam ki" (the first one if the person is younger than you and the second to address older people. "Kotho taka?" (how much?), "kothay jaben"? (where are you going?", "ami ....jachi" (I am going to ...).
