My Father risked his life in 71 and was given his second vir chakra award on 6th Dec for shooting down a Pakistani Sabre much like what he did in 1965 as a young 22 yr old IAF fighter pilot. .... My father was a young Captain in Indian Army when he fought in the 1971 war to free Bangladesh. My mum still remembers the bombardment in Calcutta when she was alone with very young kids. I had hopes that Bangladesh would never forget that Indians gave their lives and blood to help give birth to the nation known as Bangladesh! Sadly now it is religion only that matters and sacrifices of Indians in this war appears to have been forgotten.

৭১ এ আমি ৪র্থ কিংম ৫ম শেনিতে পড়তাম। আমরা গ্রামের দিকে চলে গেলাম ২৪ মাইলে সেখানে বোমবিং হচ্ছিল মনে হচ্ছিল আজ আর কেউ বাঁচব না।পরে শহন লাম ভারত থেকে বোমারু বিমান এসেছে আমাদের স্বপক্ষে পাকিস্তানি সেনা বাহিনীকে ঘায়েল করতে। আমার বাবা সারা দিন ধরে বাঙ্কার বানাতো স্বর্নের গহনা গুলো মা মাটিতে পঁতে তার উপর একটা গাছ লাগিয়ে দিল যাতে কেউ বুঝতে না পারে। সন্ধ্যা হলে শুরু হয়ে যেত কামান, মেশিনগানের গুলির শব্দ। রাতে আলো বন্ধ করে অন্ধকারে ঘুমাতে হতো।একদিন রাতে একটা পাগল এসে আমাদের খোলা বৈঠক ঘরে বসেবসে গান গাইআে লাগল , মা অনেক বৃদ্ধিমতি ছিলেন উনি ভারত পাকিস্তান ভাগের আগে কলকাতায় লেখা পড়া করতেন। মা বললেন এটা পাগল না মুক্তি যোদ্ধার সহযোগি। আমাদের পাড়ার ছেলেরা মুক্তি যোদ্ধা, ওরা আসতে পারে , আমরা ঐ দিন ভাত খেলাম না মুড়ি চিড়া খেলাম মা বলল সকালেই তো আমরা খেতে পারব। ওরা তো খেতে পারবে না। ওদের জন্য অপেক্ষা করি, না আসলে তখন খাব।বলতে বলতে ৬/৭ জন মুক্তি যোদ্ধা এসে আস্তে আস্তে বলল আমরা মহক্তি যোদ্ধা , যদি খারাব থাকে তো দিন। তখন সব খাবার বেঁধে দিয়ে দেয়া হলো আর অনেক করে মুড়ি চিড়া বেঁধে দেয়া হলো। ওরা সব বাড়ি তে যেত না কোন কোন বাড়িতে যেত। বেশ কিছুদন মা ভাত রেধে বসে থাকত, কিন্তু ওরা আর কোন দিন আসে নাই। আমি হাতে মুড়ি নিয়ে ঘুরতাম মনে হতো মুক্তি যদ্ধা পেলে দিয়ে দিব, কিন্তু ওরা আার কোন দিন আসে নাই।। একদিন একজন রাজাকার এসে বলে গেল আজ এই এলাকায় ঢুকবে আমরা সবাই অন্য এলাকায় চলে গেলাম, যাওয়ার সময় আমার ছাগল টাকে আমি নিয়ে গেলাম কিন্তু গরু টা রয়ে গেল। বাবা প্রতিদিন সাইকেলে করে এসে গরুটাকে খাওয়াতো। ওরা এসে ঘুরে গেছে, তেমন কোন ক্ষতি করে নাই, তবে যাওয়ার সময় আমাদের বাড়ী থেকে কিছু দূরে একটা গাছে উল্টো করে ঝুলিয়ে ২/৩টা অচেনা ছেলে কে গুলি করে মেরে ফেলেছে অনেক কষ্ট দিয়ে ওদের গায়ে খুচিয়ে খুচিয়ে মারার বহু ক্ষত দাগ ছিল। একটা ছেলে কে মেরে তার পুরষাঙ্গ কেটে মুখের মধ্যে ঢুকিয়ে রেখে চলে গেছে। গআমাদের গাছের কদবেল গুলো ছড়িখেয়েছে আর গাছর পাতা গুলো মাটিতে বিছিয়ে আছে। পরের দিন রাজাকারের নির্দেশ মত আমরা বাড়ী ফিরে আসি। তারপর রাজাকার আমাদেরকে সাবধানে থাকতে বলে চলে গেল। কিছুদিন পর আমরা আরো গ্রামের দিকে চলে গেলাম এবং ষেই বোমবিং দেখতে পেলাম। কয়েক দিনের মধ্যেই দেশ স্বাধিন হয়ে গেলাম। গেল। আরো কত গল্প রয়ে গেছে বলার সময় কই? এত কথা কি লিখে শেষ করা যায়। ভাগ্যিস আমাদের এলকায় এসে ওরা কোন মানুষকে পায় নাই। তিন বার এসেছে তিন বারই রাজাকাররা আগে থেকে বলে গেছে।
