Here is footage taken by my late grandfather, Jim Millar, of Bangor Co. Down in the 50s and 60s when he was involved with the Bangor Tourist Association. He supplied much of the footage for the BBC's THE DAY WE WENT TO BANGOR. I have edited out the bits that are only of interest to my family. Let me know if you see any of yours and please feel free to share this or to get in touch for a DVD copy.

Lovely to watch this my Mum swam in Pickie Pool in the early to mid 50s and took me there in the early 60s. Happy memories, thank you.

I continue to visit Bangor every week, I don't live far so I get the train in. I am not old enough to remember the 50s and 60s but it is sad to see so many stores closed today.

Great footage of Bangor. I'm 38 now, but so many places still so recognisable..... although not so many people about these days! Thanks again for posting, Jim Millar was clearly a good man! :)

Enjoyed the footage as my wife and I now live in Canada, but lived in Bangor before emigrating. My wife lived in Beverley Hills overlooking the golf course. The house was visible as a landmark with its flat roof which was clearly shown in the video.

Great to see old footage of Bangor in colour . As I was born in 59 it was 60's Bangor that was my playing ground . Didn't seem to be much different from 50's Bangor . I seem to remember it was always sunny like in this film as well 😀

Great footage Eve. Thankyou for posting. My parents knew Jim and Ivy well, (Douglas and Lily Bruce) Dad was a good photographer, it was his hobby. We have so many photos and films that he took of the Orangemen and family from those memorable times.

Not 100% but that load of BB guys at top of Main Street hill passing the old Ulster and Northern Banks a couple of them could be my late Dad and his brother who is still in Bangor. I remember Pickie Pool still being there up into my early teens. Unsure about when it stopped being used.
