While that is true, there is something else that the Guillermo's defenders do not take into account: - Guillermo was known for not knowing how to walk forward to reduce the size of the shooting area of the striker in a 1v1, as well not being skilled at tackling crossing passes, leading to lots of unnecessary goals. That's what began to spark the hate for him, Guillermo's trainers even made that known to him but he never really trained to fill those weaknesses in his game, he would depend a lot in his athleticism and reaction times (which were world class, even the best in the world), but as one grows older, your body becomes slower, your reactions aren't as sharp, and his main qualities as a Goalkeeper come into jeopardy. Then there's the contaminated meat incident that dropped his possible signing for PSG, and then had to depend on lower-tier teams to sign him in europe. What made everything worse was his attitude towards the fans, often blocking those who critique them (It's natural to block that spew senseless hate, but he would go as far as to block you for not speaking well of him... or at least I guess it's who ever manages the account). And then comes the dilemma of who will replace him, Guillermo became NOTORIOUS for being at almost every single game the National team attended, not giving way for more younger and unexperienced keepers to get international practice, blocking upper-commers in an already heated conversation of Vacas sagradas filling the national squad. (Sacred Cows, players who keep playing at the team regardless of their performance for a vast number of years). If a goalkeeper, who is considered a sacred cow, receives large amounts of goals in their clubs, who didn't train to reach a higher level of skill that they were capable of reaching, is known for having a huge ego that does more harm than good, and in the important matches fails to perform, they will easily become a polarizing figure. Then there's him coming from Club America but I won't count that. It's true that he played with teams who have bad defenders and shitty systems, but he is still responsible for his own shortcomings on and off the pitch, and this hurts because I used to be a big Guillermo Ochoa fan, he was World-class but him saying he wants to play at his 6th World Cup is just... disgusting, egotistical.

He had an agreement with PSG he ate some contaminated meat and at the time they thought he took steroids. He told PSG to wait till the issue is resolved because he was innocent, unfortunately PSG didn’t wait and pulled their contract off the table. Very disappointing but he was in France at the time the issue got resolved because he thought he was signing with PSG, while in France Ajaccio saw he was available and offered him a contract and he agreed. Thats why played there. After that he never signed with another top teams cus was either issues with his visa or his agent would mess things up. Ochoa European career is full of bad luck.

I think if he had played for a big club , he would've been incredible. The problem with the clubs he played for, the defenders weren't that great. And a lot of times, they would give up because they knew how great he was. So it was defenders not doing their job because they knew they had a great goalkeeper. But even the greatest goalkeepers can't stop every shot or save every mistake made by the defense.

Curious about your opinion on Celtic v Chelsea. Yes, yes... early days, preseason, learning a new manager's system, etc. But I know you're a Chelsea fan. I support Celtic.
