I think the reason is his english is better than his Korean. He mentioned once that he doesn't translate his thoughts directly into Korean from Thai but first translates them into English and then into Korean. And since his english pronunciation is so good it's almost a boon for SM so that they can release more songs in English that connect with international listeners.

He was in "The Seventh Sense" with the group, "Baby Don't Stop" with Taeyong, and "Black on Black," but even that last one was a solo part in the main dance.
