The back stories that are given by family members, make you realize that this is not a scripted show. Real doctors & nurses doing the best they can to help these real patients heal. From a grandma that was a nurse for many years, my heart goes out to everyone I see on this show. Kudos to all of you!!

My brother got his big toe cut off by the chain on his bike when he was a kid. It never held him back. He was a great athlete all thru school. After graduation he wanted to join the Army, but they wouldn't take him. He even brought all his ribbons and medals and trophies he had earned in high school for baseball, basketball, football, and track to show them, but they wouldn't take him. Then my parents got a hold of our congressman, Lee Hamilton, and with a lot of help from him and his staff, my brother joined the Army.

What the hell was with Mark's dad? You impress upon your son your OWN dreams, you're in his life....and then you just up and leave because you want your life to be better? You couldn't just make it better with your own family? What a piece of work. That entire family seems like it has some deep and dark dysfunction though...I can feel it. 😢

I was surprised the man with the amputated toes had the dressing removed to inspect on arrival but no dressing applied and the open wounds left open whilst waiting for the plastic team to arrive. No protection of the foot and it was at the end of the bed did concern me.

I’ve never understood the lack of empathy and love we all have for fellow people. Maybe this series will help ppl to have more empathy… My dad was an alcoholic too..he died with dementia, or Alzheimer’s, he just wasn’t..my dad anymore, so I wasn’t really sad when he died..he didn’t know who I was anymore. I devoted my life to music..like moths to flame, we all do what we must..

I worked in hospital, came home from work on a Sunday at 3:30 and the neighbor across the street had my two little boys. She said their father left them with her, he had run off with my brothers girlfriend. They married, eventually and had 3 children, then she ran off with th two boys and left the girl with him. That was 42 yrs ago.

Aawwwww John, and Mark and every other kid that got abandoned by their fathers, we get it. There are so so many of us. When will men learn how incredibly vital you are to your children. The moms generally step up because that is what we do. Just try and realize that parents have no idea what their getting into when they have a child but if you have a child you will forever be held responsible for that human. If you don't step up and take care of that child it WILL come back on your head tenfold. Someone, somewhere will always love you.

What I find sad and upsetting is the fact that these adults(Parents of the adult patient.) would choose alcohol over their family. I could never understand that mentality or the one that says, “I” have to do this for “Me”. “I” have to take off and do what “I” want to do. It’s such a selfish thing to do. They get married they have children and then a few years down the road they figured they haven’t had a life so they have to go out and live a life without their family. I have no use for people like this whatsoever because as far as I’m concerned, they’re useless. I always feel sorry for the kids that these people leave behind with the other parent who now has to take on both roles of parenting. I’m glad to hear that these patients made a full recovery as best that they could especially the one with the missing toes now.

I went to England to visit family for 20+ years (dad worked for an airline). I either never saw a place with central air, or I was too young to have noticed. When your regular top temperature is +25 centigrade, why bother installing it? Same with Vancouver, B.C., however with houses going for $1.25 MILLION CAN, the average homeowner probably can’t afford it.

With Mark never talking about the divorce, is therapy something that people consider? There is nothing shameful about it, doesn’t make someone less of a man. I am not judging at all. I am just curious if that is something that is encouraged at all. He may be a grown man now, but it can still help.
