Priests etc should be held accountable for advising people to 'pray' away mental illness etc. I've had severely ill mental health clients who stop taking their anti-psychotics because church said to pray instead!! It should be illegal! And anyone in a position of power within a church should have a 'duty of care' to their members, so that they can be held accountable for stuff like this!

That was a pastor. A priest would have recommended that she talk to her doctor. By the way, the priests I know are aware that I take medication, but they also know why I take it. They know that I’m not able to pray my autism away.

The only “ church” I know that preaches this is the Christian Scientists. I’ve had many priests, pastors in various churches and have not heard or suspected that they’re giving advice to discard their pills etc and just pray.

There’s something called freedom of religion. That means that anyone is entitled to their own religious beliefs.. no matter How ridiculous or outrageous they are . Whether someone chooses to follow that advice from a pastor or not is their choice. Stop blaming others for the actions of a person . It’s not the fault of a pastor for what he preaches . It’s the fault of the person who believes such garbage for not searching out the Bible for the right answers . My father is a pastor and even he says “ don’t just take what I say as the truth, search out the scriptures for yourself” … personal accountability is lacking so much in this world ..

I’ve experienced the same. Some of the biggest psychiatric messes I’ve dealt with are absolutely thanks to their “religious advisors.” The honest ones will tell me privately they have not had the training or education to deal with their “flock’s” psychiatric issues. Those are the ones I respect. *The rest of them are beyond useless to absolutely dangerous.* It’s no longer about “personal responsibility.” Psychosis/a psychotic break renders individuals *incapable* of making rational decisions. That’s why we INvoluntarily commit people.

@@brandrider1989Not when it comes at the expense of people’s lives. The woman in this story killed her children and her husband. If she had not committed suicide, she would either be sitting on death row or spending the rest of her life in prison. You can have freedom of religion, but when it crosses the line, you must deal with the justice system. Stop using heinous acts to support that freedom.

You most definitely cannot pray away depression I’ve tried 🤦🏾‍♀️ when I started group therapy I never realized that I was wearing a mask. I didn’t even know what that was. I was able to hold down corporate jobs like it wasn’t a problem but crying when I hung up the phone. When the pandemic hit and I had to work from home without going outside to the store or even for just walks. I felt like the world was closing in on me. I am currently getting help from a therapist and a psychiatrist. I am also taking medication for depression and anxiety. I remember being depressed as a child because I couldn’t go home with my mother. I am the oldest grandchild and I was raised by my grandmother and grandfather. They both worked a lot and with them being older I also had to sit and look pretty l. I had all of the best things they could afford and it was a lot. It broke the bond that I had with my younger sister. I never realized that I was her best friend. I am currently still working on childhood trauma

That’s unfortunately happened to quite a few notable female killers. Church says have babies, hubby says have babies, they have babies. Too many. Postpartum depression kicks in hard and then they break. And usually the kids suffer. It’s a system of failures and dogmatic, blind devotion, lack of medical care, and lackadaisical partners that causes this.

Kelly made her own decision to listen to the pastor instead of seeking professional help. It feels like there’s a lot of compassion towards her but the children didn’t ask to be born and both parents didn’t have to continue to have more and more children. What she did has no justification because she had other options regardless of the mental state she was in.

Kelly Silk needed serious help but never got it. The other 2 are not mothers but momsters - a monster masquerading as a mother. Little Emma and Jacob did not deserve their terrible fates inflicted on them by those who were supposed to protect them. Hopefully Jacob and his beloved puppy are playing together in heaven forever, and little Emma is there with them. Their 'mothers', I think, will be spending eternity somewhere far less comfortable than that.

I’m sorry but why are these women having children! It’s easy, take a pill!!!!!!! It’s not hard, you just swallow. There’s excuses made for these people and yes , one must feel sorry for their pain, but what have these children done. Some people should just not have children. Time to start feeling more pain and disgust for these children, not their murderers! I’m sorry, just my opinion folks. 🙏🙏👵🇦🇺

There are many reasons for unwanted pregnancies such as making abortions and birth control illegal. Women feel pressured into having babies. I totally agree that some people should not be parents. My mother being one of them. She got pregnant with me at 14. Abortion wasn't legal at that time. I've honestly given this a lot of thought. I think my mom would have been better off if I wasn't born. My grandparents raised me and I think they did a brilliant job. My mom resented that I took her place regarding their love for me. She kept having kids to keep the man in her life. She watched my siblings be abused and did nothing about it. I went to my mother on weekends not to see her but to protect them. She hated that I told the family what was going on. My uncle's were dispatched to deal with the abuser. Eventually, there was a role reversal where I became the mother figure. After she died I found out just how much she hated me. I'm still trying to process this. She died two years ago prior to this she'd turned my siblings against me, they tried to turn my daughter against me. I no longer have anything to do with my siblings. My daughter and I are doing well.

I am so sorry, I spoke too rashly perhaps. I was just listening to these videos and it made me - grrr. I know a young couple, who, can’t have children but they would be such wonderful parents and I spoke in haste. I did not think about the opposite side of the story. Sincere apologies to you and yours. Your grandparents sound like wonderful people, I’m sure they felt blessed by you as well 🙏🙏🙏👵🇦🇺

There are options! I don’t understand why in these circumstances that people don’t reach out and give these children up at the point in time when they cannot cope! Breaks my heart for the innocent lost! These children could have been saved by options that are there for the taking! Such horrific and unnecessary choices made! Fly high little children ❤

@@ashejmawien4326Would you have posted the same comment, if it had been a male perpetrator? I don't think so. Your response? Men are seen as vile and evil. There are many excuses for female killers (mental health issues etc.). Women "can't" do anything wrong. They're viewed as innocent. That's why they receive lighter sentences than men.

The second story is crazy. Religion is cancer, sorry. If you tell sick person to just "pray", you need doctor yourself.

Not all religious people think that. We Catholics are perfectly fine with our parishioners taking medication if it’s for the right reasons and prescribed by the doctor. We do believe in the power of prayer, but we also know why doctors exist.

Why didn't they just left the home or gave up their kids for adoption, crazy women. The families and friends of these women should be blamed as well for not seeing the signs and reporting to welfare to intervene until the mother's pulled themselves together. Deaths that could have been prevented.

Yes I know she gave alcohol to Minors but still as apposed to a woman drugging her kid to sleep and they stop trying when I makes him sick you gotta know where the bar is right!
