Bluegrass is played on a 5 string banjo! It's a little known fact among folks who don't play.
@SentiMental541410 ай бұрын
5s have a shorter string as you probably know, and 6s are for guitar players like me

I've been watching you for a while now, let's see you play a whole tune and whip it out like I know you can do, your lessons are wonderful but let's see you get at it❤

This is great and helpful for starting out on bluegrass banjo. I didn't understand rolls until I purchased a copy of the Peter Wernick book in 1981. No KZbin back then!

What kinda fingerpicks are those? I just use a pair of national ones. I've never seen ones that are bent covering the finger. Let me know, thank you
@MasonCroneMusic Жыл бұрын
Hoffmeyers. I bend my picks like that because I prefer it, you could do it to your's too if you wanted.
@KTMSparky3 ай бұрын
Do you have to use picks?
@MasonCroneMusic3 ай бұрын
@@KTMSparky For bluegrass, yes. You just won’t get the tone, volume, or speed without them

Was the fifth string on a banjo a later development?
@MasonCroneMusic8 ай бұрын
Four string tenor banjos were popular back in the day, five strings were the standard by the 1940s though.

So do you keep the metal picks point or point out?
@MasonCroneMusic9 ай бұрын
They bend towards my fingernails.
@gurnblanstein9816 Жыл бұрын
Why don't the strings go from low to high like they do on other stringed instruments?
@MasonCroneMusic9 ай бұрын
They do except for the 5th string, it's a drone string
@ShannonOzuna-qh4gx11 ай бұрын
It would be nice if I could actually see what you're doing, all the description box is blocking your hand
@MasonCroneMusic9 ай бұрын
It shouldn't be blocking my fingers 🤷♂️

You don't touch the 4 th String unless your a pro.
