sour note at 0:10 and very slightly off-tempo@@piffe, but I'm glad that you enjoy it! don't let my take ruin it for you.

There do seem to be some incorrect notes, in the glissandos on the marimba and the fretted bass part.
@GraniteStateVictoria10 ай бұрын
It's better than 99% of covers of this on here. I'm reminded a little bit of when I watch a video of an accomplished classical pianist, the comment section is filled with comments like "that part at 2:03 should have been forte, but it's being played pianoforte, absolutely dreadful, and the tempo should be 144 but it's being played at 140, and worst of all, they played a German augmented 6th at 5:52 when the composer clearly wrote a French augmented 6th". I mean, a fine-tuned appreciation for music is awesome, but at a certain point, it probably ruins music for you if you hear every small mistake in the way someone like me would hear a child slamming their fists against the piano keys.
@FractionalBruce11 ай бұрын
That fretless bass adds so much, I never realised how much of the music from the original soundtrack uses it, or at least something that sounds like it. I always assumed it was a tuba, but honestly the fretless bass sound spot on.
@GraniteStateVictoria10 ай бұрын
Yes, same. Watching this really showed me just how intricate the instrumentation is. My boyfriend is a musician and while I've always loved music, I always had novice level knowledge of it until I met him, he's taught me so much about it and now I'm hearing things I didn't hear before.

It's supposed to be a bassoon. And the normal bass is supposed to be a bass sax.

1:18 - 1:38 is probably one of the most haunting pieces of music of that entire era. You could hear the MAGIC in the music. This is one of the best re-captures of that section I've ever heard, and the violins even give that subtle "singing" beneath the twinkling. Absolutely amazing.

This tune and this game in particular are a huge reason why I went into music. I didn't realize at the time this soundtrack utilized the marimba so much, so that was just a nice coincidence hahaha. Well played! :D This time I have a slight and very subjective critique. The bass at 0:50 has a distinct (in lack of better terms) "metal string being attacked" sound compared to the fretless bass, and since this noise is so in focus it kind of distracted me from the melody. I'm not sure what I would think a better alternative in that context, though. Sorry ^^''
