No, I wasn't shown what the something was, only that it was for "Stop 'N Swop 2"... which itself has never panned out.

Well, it was unused on the N64. The 360 version lets you use the eggs and ice key to get some bonuses in both tooie and nuts & bolts. Sadly, the only thing noteworthy is that you get some unique parts in nuts & bolts.

Not the entire story, as that functionality was also implemented in the Tooie remake. Besides the originally there stuff, you got a dashboard for the console (rather nice one too!), a gamer pic, and a... something. No one knows for sure what the "something" is, other than part of "Stop 'N Swop 2". THAT, however, hasn't panned out yet, and likely never will.

I played the original N64 version. The worst part for me wasn't obtaining them, but inputting the codes to make them accessible. Seven different codes, each like thirty characters long, input by hitting the letters on the sand castle floor, with no feedback of any kind until you finish the code. Thankfully the eggs and key (and access to their locations, as applicable) are shared across play files, so there's absolutely zero reason to ever do all that a second time.
