Hope we get to see a mini-backstory on the returning VW, even if it's just a two minute add-on to a regular Iron Trap video.

Mike you remind me of an old friend of 45 years or so, an antique auto guy at "Dons Antique Auto" in Niles Ca. who had a memory on cars that was un-beleivable. Could 'a crashed a PC with his knowledge. I sure miss just stopping by just to say Hi once in while. I thoroughly enjoy the work you three do on this You Tube Chanel. I grew up around cars, you know, my dad had body shop and a brother who had cars in the local car shows. Got 40 ford my self, early hot rodded, flat head, chopped top, flames nothing too fancy. Oh, Matt that shop you've built is something really special and the envy of everyone who watches your station, I'm sure. I get kick out'a Moon sniffing up a new in-coming trailer. One more thing, be careful with your backs.

Reminds me of the swap meets in England that I used to attend. We called them autojumbles, it waa great fun tracking down 1960s Triumph car parts in the 80s and 90s, sometimes for our own cars, sometimes for onward sale. It was always a real sense of achievement when we found something good. My favourites were the sales near Coventry where the cars were built and old factory employees were clearing out their secret stash!

Great episode guys. 40 minutes of talking about things of which I know little or nothing, but loved it. Obviously we know Matt's background, and we know Mike knows his stuff, but he is approaching 'nerd' level on some things. (Complement) How come Mike knows so much, pod cast please, Love as Always, Reading, England.

They’ve done the podcast with him already but I would assume his massive knowledge of parts identification has come from Having to go through the big hauls and do the research to figure out what each piece is so he can put it on the site for sale. Been a few years and a LOT of parts. That’s my guess

I used to be a counterman at a television parts store (back in the olden days when TVs were repaired!) and a skill certain people have is being able to hold parts information in their heads - it was that way for me, and I've always felt a kinship with Mike, knowing he has that gift as well. I think it has to do with the way we organize our memories - from general categories to more specific differences. Matt is good at that as well, and we see another gift at work as he fabricates - his ability to go through his mental "parts catalog" of a wide range of things and pick shapes, materials and manufacturing methods that could contribute to his solutions. That's what I find so stimulating about this crew of Matt, Mike and Steve - gifted men working as a team to solve challenges.

Halibrand 101 QC rears were actively raced into the 1970s. Internals from a Jones QC fit in them too. Plenty of parts and gears floating around.

@@IronTrapGarage I'd love to find a Mickey THompson HEMI head for the Pontiac 389 / 421.. I bet they made even LESS of those than the Wayne head! Mickey believed that the Pontiac engine actually had a superior bottom end to the Chrysler engine even, a Tempest with a 421 beat the works Ferrari's at Daytona in 1963! People believe the Corvette C5 was the first to have a torque tube with a rear mounted transaxle, actually the tempest did back in 61!
