Wdym, wide-screen mode is not a new feature in the original. I have my original cartridge and I play with wide-screen mode on my N64 all the time. The HUD UI is scaled properly.

@@YouMissedAgainTimes32024 Yes, it is scaled properly as it is a feature in-game since the OG N64, but, he's talking about the enhancements that the XBOX Live version had, as they programmed the game for native 1080p resolution, so they enhanced several textures, fonts, the logo at the title screen and its locked at 30 fps, the only issue with XBOX version is the out of sync audio in some cutscenes as it was programmed for the laggy N64 version.

In terms of the difference in visual quality between the two, on Xbox you're looking at a native 1080p render resolution with AA. On Switch, it's a native 720 render resolution with no AA. So the XBLA version can seem cleaner and more refined than the NSO version. The Xbox version also never drops the polygon count on Banjo's character model like the N64 original and Switch versions do.

I can't deny it but for me recovering Banjo-Kazooie & Tooie in the NSO+ was an occasion that I couldn't miss (I played for the beginning with only Nintendo systems)

Just a little suggestion (for this and the last video), if you will do comparisons, especially ones when we will pay attention to wide screen, please don't move immediately after cutscenes, stand still, let us see and compare the game engine in the different sources (or slowly move the camera to the exact same spots), let us see how much the wide screen covers on xbox and switch. You immediately start running like you are speedrunning the game in the best spots where we can compare the games. Just a little observation, I still appreciate these videos A LOT, and thank you for this :) :) Great job!

At 33:00 they’re both NSO! It’s possible to adjust it from the main menu, I just set it for widescreen first and then reset the game so I could get the beginning captured!

Big thank you guys! I never knew it was actually possible to adjust settings to widescreen and thought it was a setting located within the NSO app. It worked fine now, really happy about it. Now I'm wondering which other games might this be an adjustable setting as well 🤣

I like playing these games portably. The XBOX version doesn't have that. It doesn't bother me if an old retro game is upressed more or not as long as it's true to the og. It's nice that retro games can look sharper but doesn't sway me enough really.

Not to mention the fact that it runs and looks better. I'm not saying the switch version is bad or anything but for me I'll stick with the console version. Specially the Xbox but that's just my preference as well so.

My problem with the XBLA version is they fucked up the camera controls and they removed the invert with no way to add it back. I'm fine with games changing this but for the love of god make it an option. I fought through all of the first one on XBLA and never got used to the camera.

This is only in the N64/switch version. In the xbox version the order is always the same. (Red for the first fight, green for the second and blue for the last)
