The 1963-B is a Barr note. According to United States law, the signature of the acting Secretary of the Treasury must appear on every piece of currency. During the final days of President Lyndon B. Johnson’s administration, his Secretary of the Treasury, Henry H. Fowler, resigned. Since no new currency could be printed without an acting Secretary, President Johnson quickly appointed Joseph W. Barr to this cabinet post. Since Johnson’s term was about to expire, Barr’s tenure would last only 28 days! It was the shortest tenure in the history of the United States Treasury! Notes where only produced for 5 of the 12 federal reserves. Nice find. Are you selling your leading 4 nines?

I always knew that Barr notes were special but I never knew the reason! Thanks for sharing. Also, the only notes I sell are date notes and regular star notes.

I don't blame you for not selling. Let me know if you find a March 8th 1988.

What is special about X notes?
@mkwpros1242 ай бұрын
They are a bit uncommon to see since the letters don’t usually get printed that far down the alphabet.

Each suffix used (A-X (OYZ not used) represents 96,999,999 notes produced for a federal reserve. So if a federal reserve prints till the X suffix in a series, roughly 2,230,999,977 notes were printed. Usually you'll only see an X suffix with an L prefix which represents the San Francisco federal reserve. Although I have found a B prefix which represents the New York federal reserve which also orders alot of money.
