Bankei Yōtaku 盤珪永琢 ~ 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 ~ Zen Buddhism

Bankei Yōtaku 盤珪永琢 (1622-1693) was a Japanese Rinzai Zen master, and the abbot of the Ryōmon-ji and Nyohō-ji. He is best known for his talks on the Unborn as he called it.
Bankei was an immensely popular and influential teacher who spoke directly. avoiding sutras and ceremony. He adhered to no particular school and his teaching was remarkably individual and raw, of the essence of Zen. His concern was with the truth as an immediate experience, not with a systematic approach to a distant goal. He preached what he had discovered in his own experience-"the unborn" or "the birthless Buddha-mind"-and he spoke in plain language that anyone could understand.

Yes, the unborn and the unbecome are in the Pāli canon I believe? But what about the “deathles? I believe it was used in early Buddhism as a synonym for nirvana nibbāna? What do you think and why because in early Buddhism nibbāna meant that if it is obtained a person does not have to reincarnate and is liberated from samsāra.

I see it Just open your eyes and see what’s already there (Or not there - which she said doesn’t need to be said) If you lose the thread by following thoughts that arise, this manner of speaking will sounds like a riddle with hidden symbolic meanings. But it’s plain English IF you follow it the whole way. That’s the reason it takes concentration.
