Gist of the editorial- India's recent achivement is eliminating kala - azar ,and fix its position to certification by WHO. After as per figures by union ministry, It is considered as 2nd deadliest disease after malariya. In this year India registered 339 cases which decline from 595 cases. The recent achievement achieved by the India is the elimination of kala azar and bacterial eye infection trachoma as a public heath issue. Now India wants a certification from WHO after bring the cases one in the 10000 cases. The reports that were submitted by the union health minister that the cases were 595 and 4 deaths in the year 2023 and 339 cases and one death in the year 2024. Today's Editorial : Kala -azar a second deadliest Parasitic disease after malaria, was in great outbreak in India which caused furore. Not only Kala-azar , Trachomea ,A infectious eye disease was also matter of concern. Several Cases and deaths of people were being reported due to this two diseases, making a pandemic like situation. But with the help of continuous Surveillance , Sustained Governance Health Campaigns and epidemiology studies done by scientists, India recently able to reduce such numbers to 1 in 10,000. A report Published By the Health Commission shows that the number of affected people were 593 with 4 deaths in 2023 , which is significantly reduce to 320 affected with only 1 death soo far this year. Now, India wants a UNO Certification which Shows that ,it is able to eliminate such infections disease upto brink. And in future it will be able to eliminate such disease. Thank you♥️

Symptoms include fever ,weight loss ,fatigue ,anemia and swelling of the liver and spleen .....In 2021,the states of an Bihar, jharkhand ,and west bengal reported cases of kala azar.❤❤ India has achieved the target of reporting less than one case as 10,000 population across all blocks in 2023.....❤❤❤,,,,, World Health organization (WHO ) has declared that the government of India has eliminated Trachoma as a public health problem becoming the third country in the south east Region to achieve this milestone. ..❤❤❤... Trachoma is caused by certain subtypes of chalmydia trachomatis........ Antibiotic therapy the WHO recommends antibiotics for trachoma control oral azithromycin and tetracycline eye ointment. ..❤❤ ❤❤ Kala azar is killing of the parasite with effective drugs which are cheap and less toxic ...pentavalent antimonials are the first line drugs and pentamidine and amphotericin second line drugs. ....❤❤❤...... Crux:- Kala azar which is considered as second deadliest disease after malaria has shown consecutive decrease in the case from the last two years from 595 cases and 2 deaths in 2023 to 339 cases and 1 death in 2024 . If india would retain this achievement for another year will be given WHO certification. Kala azar and trachoma are both the disease which do not have vaccine and are caused due to poverty and inadequate sanitation. Proper Surveillance and efforts should beade to find better cure and vaccines to completely eradicate the disease.

Recently, India has eliminated kala azar and bacterial eye infection trachoma. The number of cases of is one in 10000, from two years, now India wants WHO certification for eliminating kala azar. It is the 2nd perilous disease after malaria in India. According to the Union Health Ministry data, India registered 595 cases and four deaths in 2023, and in this year 339 cases and one death till now. The country has to maintain this achievement for one another year to get the WHO certificate. Epidemiology describes the difference between elimination and eradication of a disease, in elimination, a country needs to keep the number of cases under a specified limit, whereas with eradication means the number of cases is zero. Kala-azar is caused by the sandfly which passes on the protozoan parasite, Leishmania donovani. Trachoma is spread by the bacteria, Chlamydia trachomatis, causing blindness. In the 1970s 5% of all blindness due to this trachoma. Kala-azar and trachoma are classified under the category 'neglected tropical disease'.
