I love the credit union that I use,I have"NEVER"had a problem,and they all know my name(lol)It's kinda like dealing with good friends.Try one out and you might also become hook'd on credit unions....

Their loss. I clearly got a great interest loan from that falling down shack ;). Haha. No didn't happen. However I have no issues from my credit union. The only downside is the online system isn't as easy to navigate as banks. They're friendly. They don't get bailed out like banks so they use safer investments. You pay a couple of dollars to become a shareholder right off the bat(or at least I did). The low interest loans and above inflation rate savings interest rates. Your money isn't locked in, in credit unions so you don't get penalized when using a savings account. It is just a good system. The workers are also way more patient then bank workers. That goes a long way.

I took all of my money in banks and put them in my credit union. Almost immediately I started making more with their higher interests rates. From 0.03 to 4.35%!

I think one of the downsides she could have said was fewer ATM/Branches. That would have been more honest then fluffing it up with saying, "Overall satisfaction is very high." For most people, we will adapt to fewer ATM/Branches, most of us use online banking. If that works well, then I think this is the key component to choosing a Credit Union.

which bank is she talking about Chase, Bank of America, Citi, Capitol1 or barclay bank banks vs credit union's or was she talking about lower level banks that you would find in the back pages of money magazine? 2.34 there are certainly drawbacks.

I was amazed at how low the costs were for refinancing at my credit union was, vs. home loan companies. Also my CU beat the home loan places by $80/month on the loan insurance.

I can not agree more!!! I have been with a credit union and refinance my car ..lowest interest rate ever. Of course the goal is to pay it off as quick as possible but credit union do rock. I have been with my credit union for over 10 years

Im in a Credit Union and I virtually have absolutely zero problems with it. I just have a Checking account. I dont have to keep a certain amount in either. Just put whatever I earn in and I just use my Debit Card. Im college student so I dont have any real responsibilities as of yet.

I am just wondering how much money Nationalised (Central Government Owned) banks from my country would make if they set up branches in the US . A Nationalised Bank is safer because employees are paid a fixed salary and pensions based on their rank/role and would not get astronomical incentives by taking huge and dangerous share market bets and making big profits because the profits would still be owned by the Government because it is the largest (99% shareholder) .

My local great small bank, The First State Bank (W. V.) failed the last day of December 2019. It was a wonderful independent one hundred year old bank, where senior citizens like myself got free checking, free checks and 5% credit cards with yearly rebates. I felt cheated when I learned in April of its failure! It made through the Great Depression so the owners and managers sold us out is my way of looking at it! When big banks have their own administration in Washington, no one is safe from greedy despots! REST IN PEACE FIRST NATIONAL BANK OF WEST VIRGINIA! You were the best! Too bad!

Credit Unions are separate from banks and will not be susceptible to bailins when the next failure comes and it will because they are highly leveraged at around 4%. That means if their profit falls 4% they are broke and since they are intertwined it will be systemic and since the Fed is tapped out with debt that means they will be tapping your savings account. Also pensions are highly leverage so there will be losses there. Check out Lynnette Zang on Utube to get the lowdown.

Why doesn't the USA replace the 12 regional federal reserve banks and the central federal reserve banks with federal credit unions? The lower cost of the loans would save The tax payers money. Only Americans could be depositors. It should be full auditable. Then No one would profit from the debit caused by wars. In case you didn't know the federal reserve bank is a privately owned bank. That has never been fully audited
